Your Role:
The Assistant Controller (Malaysia) will be responsible for accounting, financial reporting, controls and compliance related to the Elanco Animal Health business. The role will include collaborating with the affiliate operations finance team, the corporate accounting team. The Accounting and Tax Associate will assume the stewardship of key accounting processes (O2C, P2P, R2R), performing monthly closing entries, supporting internal, external audits, tax compliance as well as working capital management. These responsibilities will be performed in close alignment with the CFO ASEAN Bangladesh & India and Accounting & Tax Manager.

Your Role:
The Assistant Controller (Malaysia) will be responsible for accounting, financial reporting, controls and compliance related to the Elanco Animal Health business. Your Responsibilities:
- Accounting & General
- Prepare necessary monthly closing entries by working closely with the business partners to determine what, if any, activities occurred during the month that require manual journal entries
- Support monthly closing of books, including JV preparation, Trial Balance commentaries, Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
- Execute all local legal entity transformation activities as directed by Corporate Tax team and Corporate Accounting team
- Evolve into the local Super User (key user) for key accounting processes impacting financial reporting including but not limited to O2C, P2P and R2R
- Act as key subject matter expert on Local GAAP policy/procedures interpretation.
- Participate in any data migration and/or management activities, related to financial accounting processes.
- Provide accounting guidance to the local business partners on the treatment of transaction as and when arises
- Controls
- Demonstrate a strong compliance-oriented mindset & help to build a strong compliance culture.
- Awareness of all applicable financial/taxation standards, process documentation & training materials to ensure compliant execution of daily operations.
- Ensure ownership of all applicable financial reporting and operational controls as well as broader oversight for all controls that influence the financial statements.
- Proactively monitor and anticipate changing business, regulatory, and financial requirements, processes, and practice
- Statutory & Tax
- Responsible for local tax compliance activities and management of tax payments. This includes but not limited to preparation and provide information to tax agent to complete annual corporate tax return, provision tax computation and any company tax related matters
- Coordinate with company secretary for company compliance matters
- Coordinate and work together with external auditor to complete annual external audit . This includes but not limited to Gather to provide information to the auditors and explain in detail for accounting transactions as well as preparing annual statutory financial statements
- Support and assist in the preparation and filing of withholding tax and customs reporting
- Assist in quarterly transfer pricing submission
- Other duties
- Prepare cash flow update and forecast and monitor company cash flow.
- Prepare and assist any reporting requirement from Corporate.
- Ad hoc assignments by CFO and Accounting & Tax Manager.
- Communicate and reinforcement to employees on existing policy as well as any changes of process, if applicable
- Coordinate the integration of local, regional and corporate initiatives.
- Demonstrate a strong continuous improvement-oriented approach & help to build a strong continuous improvement culture
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent Degree in Finance or Accounting
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in relevant field (audit experience is a plus)
- Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS
- Proven problem solving, and communication skill
- Proven control and compliance orientation based on prior operational business roles
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to strategically analyze and translate data into key financial insights to drive decision making
- Ability to work in local/regional/global team environment and communicate effectively with both internal business partners of all levels & disciplines as well as external stakeholders such as auditors ad tax authorities
- Strong grasp of IT, and willingness and ability to consistently expand IT knowledge base to account for emerging support technologies. Good ERP/ Power BI knowledge
- Self-driven, accountable and attention to details
