As an Automation Engineer (Designer), you will support the design, development, assembly, and debugging of custom automation equipment for New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing improvement projects. You will transform machine concepts into detailed mechanical designs while ensuring automation solutions are robust, manufacturable, reliable, and aligned with business objectives.
Our Team
You will be part of the CCS Automation Engineering team, working closely with System Control Engineers, Production, Quality Engineering, Purchasing, Product Development, and external equipment suppliers. Together, the team develops innovative automation solutions that support NPI programmes, improve manufacturing performance, and drive operational excellence across the organisation.

As an Automation Engineer (Designer), you will support the design, development, assembly, and debugging of custom automation equipment for New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing improvement projects. You will transform machine concepts into detailed mechanical designs while ensuring automation solutions are robust, manufacturable, reliable, and aligned with business objectives.
Our Team
You will be part of the CCS Automation Engineering team, working closely with System Control Engineers, Production, Quality Engineering, Purchasing, Product Development, and external equipment suppliers. Together, the team develops innovative automation solutions that support NPI programmes, improve manufacturing performance, and drive operational excellence across the organisation.
What You Will Do
- Develop machine designs using Siemens NX 3D CAD software to support automation and manufacturing initiatives.
- Support machine assembly, testing, debugging, and continuous design improvements to ensure reliable equipment performance.
- Participate in design reviews and implement engineering changes to enhance machine functionality, quality, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with Senior Designers to develop and improve machine modules and automation systems.
- Support NPI projects by providing innovative mechanical design solutions and complete engineering documentation.
- Ensure machine designs meet safety, quality, manufacturability, and maintenance requirements throughout the development process.
- Drive standardisation of machine designs and reusable components to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Design machine parts, assemblies, and tooling using Siemens NX or equivalent 3D CAD software.
- Prepare and maintain 3D models, 2D drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and supporting engineering documentation.
- Support machine design modifications, testing activities, and troubleshooting efforts throughout equipment development and implementation.
- Work closely with Senior Designers, Process Engineers, PLC Engineers, Vision Engineers, Production teams, and suppliers to ensure successful machine implementation.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable safety, quality, and manufacturing standards and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in automation design, scheduling, and cost control.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX or equivalent 3D CAD software, with the ability to create 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, engineering drawings, and standard machine components, including pneumatic, motion, and inspection systems.
- Hands-on experience in machine assembly, troubleshooting, and debugging.
- Basic understanding of automation equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Degree specialisation in Mechanical Engineering with automation design knowledge.
- Experience as a Mechanical Designer supporting automation equipment, assembly machines, or NPI projects.
- Experience using Office 365, Microsoft Project, data analytics tools, and enterprise applications such as Teamcenter and Polarion.
