Job Summary
UCSI Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate BM (Bahasa Melayu) to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that develop students’ proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking in both languages. The successful candidate will foster a love for language and literature while supporting students’ academic achievement and personal growth within an internationally-minded school community.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in Bahasa Melayu and English (Lower and/or Upper Secondary) aligned with the school’s curriculum framework (e.g., Cambridge IGCSE, national curriculum, or equivalent).
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessments that strengthen students’ language proficiency, grammar, vocabulary, writing skills, and literary analysis.
- Foster a student-centered, inquiry-based learning environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and confident communication.
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations where applicable.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning abilities and language proficiencies.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and educational technology (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, interactive platforms) to enhance student engagement.
- Monitor and assess student progress, provide timely and constructive feedback, and maintain accurate academic records.
- Integrate cross-curricular links and real-world contexts to make language learning meaningful and relevant.
- Promote reading culture and language enrichment activities such as debates, public speaking, writing competitions, and literacy programs.
- Maintain proactive communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and development.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment, share best practices, and contribute to school improvement initiatives.
- Participate actively in school events, co-curricular activities, and professional development programs.
- Uphold the school’s mission, values, and commitment to holistic education.
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Bahasa Melayu, Education, Linguistics, Literature, or a related discipline.
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Diploma in Education, B.Ed, PGCE, or equivalent).
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in BM and/or English at the secondary school level.
- Strong subject knowledge in grammar, composition, comprehension, and literature (for both languages).
- Good classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities and cultural backgrounds.
- Experience with international curricula (e.g., Cambridge IGCSE English) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in educational technology and online learning platforms.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and innovative teaching practices.
- Experience in international or multicultural school environments.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
