Job Purpose
The Consultant - Test Automation plays a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks. This role involves hands‑on automation work, active participation in Agile teams, and contributing to improving overall test quality and efficiency. The engineer is expected to work independently on assignments while supporting junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain automated test scripts for new and existing functionalities.
- Contribute to the design and improvement of test automation frameworks and tools.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA team members to clarify requirements and ensure test coverage.
- Review and refactor test scripts to adhere to best coding practices and maintainability.
- Execute automated regression suites and analyze test failures, providing detailed defect reports.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand‑ups, and retrospectives.
- Use and manage test management and defect tracking tools like JIRA.
- Identify testing gaps, risks, and bottlenecks, and propose solutions.
- Support continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines using tools such as Maven, Jenkins, and Docker.
- Provide guidance and assistance to junior or interns when needed.
- Maintain clear and organized test artifacts, documentation, and reports.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent
- 1-2 years of experience in test automation using Selenium and frameworks such as Cucumber, TestNG, or JUnit with Java.
- Solid hands‑on knowledge of automation concepts, scripting standards, and framework structures.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Maven, Jenkins, and Docker.
- Basic experience with JavaScript and PL/SQL (Oracle) is an advantage.
- Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive testing mindset.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills
- Basic understanding of test automation tools (e.g., Selenium), Java fundamentals, and testing frameworks like TestNG/JUnit.
- Familiarity with Agile processes, JIRA, and willingness to learn CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Maven.
- Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn from mid/senior team members.
Additional Details
- Visa Sponsorship: Employment eligibility to work with Quorum Software in Malaysia is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for this position.
