AstraZeneca, one of the world’s leading healthcare companies, is recruiting for a Corporate Affairs Executive to support AstraZeneca’s Malaysia overall strategic planning and execution of both communications and corporate affairs activities for AstraZeneca Malaysia, with a primary focus on internal communications and corporate reputation initiatives. The role is responsible for delivering effective internal communication materials like coordinating newsletters and corporate content, monitoring communication quality and delivery, and supporting day-to-day corporate affairs activities such as policy tracking, stakeholder correspondence, engagement with patient groups and follow-up on external engagements.

This role requires a highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive individual who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and matrixed environment while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs, the role with be based in Malaysia and work as part of a cross-functional team and in partnership with local team and regional/international team to shape perceptions of AstraZeneca, building on its pandemic legacy and proactively shape our reputation in innovation, shape the policy within priority therapy areas and drive sustainability agenda.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the development and execution of communications and corporate affairs initiatives that strengthen AstraZeneca’s corporate reputation and stakeholder engagement in Malaysia.
  • Support development and coordinate internal communications content, including leadership messages, employee updates, newsletters, and other corporate materials, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with company standards.
  • Review and monitor communication outputs, including email communications prepared by the intern, to ensure quality, accuracy, and tone of voice.
  • Prepare and refine presentations, briefing materials, emails, letters, and meeting notes for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyse relevant healthcare, policy, and regulatory developments, and translate these into concise updates and actionable insights for the business.
  • Support engagement with government agencies, industry stakeholders, healthcare partners, and Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs) to help build and maintain constructive relationships.
  • Coordinate stakeholder meetings and external engagements, including preparation of materials, meeting follow-up, and tracking of agreed actions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution of communications and corporate affairs priorities.
  • Contribute to issues management and communications readiness, supporting the team in responding effectively to emerging topics and business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Medicine, Life Sciences, or a related healthcare discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, medical, or corporate affairs environment.
  • Exposure to working with or engaging government agencies, healthcare institutions, or public sector stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, professional, and impactful materials for different audiences.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret policy, healthcare, and stakeholder developments and convert them into meaningful insights.
  • Demonstrated strategic mindset, with the ability to connect day-to-day activities to broader business and reputation objectives.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
