Job Description

We are searching for the best talent for Country Manager – Surgical Vision.

Purpose

The Country Manager – Surgical Vision is responsible for leading the overall commercial strategy, execution, and business performance across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei for the Cataract and Refractive portfolio.

This role defines long-term strategic direction, drives sustainable growth, and ensures effective execution across both direct and distributor markets. As a senior leader, the role builds high-performing teams, strengthens stakeholder partnerships, and ensures full compliance within a complex regulatory environment.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • Setting the overall strategic direction for the Surgical Vision business, developing and executing long-range plans that balance short-term performance with sustainable growth
  • Driving revenue growth and achieving financial targets through effective management of direct sales teams, distributors, and logistics partners across multiple markets
  • Leading a complex, multi-brand portfolio across Cataract and Refractive segments, optimising product mix, pricing, and market positioning
  • Strengthening market leadership in key accounts, including government and private sectors, while expanding customer reach and market presence
  • Building and executing strong distributor management strategies to ensure performance across distribution, inventory, consignment, and profitability metrics
  • Making sound investment and resource allocation decisions, ensuring optimal deployment of budgets to maximise returns and impact
  • Developing and inspiring a high-performing organisation by attracting, coaching, and retaining top talent, while building a culture of accountability and growth mindset
  • Engaging and influencing internal and external stakeholders, including KOLs, healthcare institutions, regulators, and regional teams, to drive aligned execution and business outcomes

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or related discipline; MBA or equivalent is highly preferred
  • Preferably a minimum of 8 years proven leadership experience at National Sales Manager level or above, with strong track record in managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Extensive experience in MedTech or healthcare industry, preferably in surgical vision, ophthalmology, or related portfolios
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with demonstrated ability to manage P&L, budgeting, pricing, and investment decisions
  • Proven experience in distributor and channel management, including oversight of distributor models and logistics operations
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to identify growth opportunities, prioritise investments, and drive long-term business success in complex markets
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with ability to operate effectively across cross-functional, regional, and external stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of healthcare ecosystems, regulatory environments, and market dynamics across Malaysia and Southeast Asia
