As part of our Data Products & Semantics Team, you play a key role in the management of external data at BASF. You are responsible for ensuring that high-quality external data is selected, procured, managed, and made available across the organization in a transparent and cost-efficient way. With a current portfolio of 11 major external data providers, the team streamlines data demand across Sales & Market functions, with a strong focus on pricing, company, and trade data. You will work at the intersection of data, procurement, controlling, and IT, contributing directly to the standardization at BASF.
Responsibilities And Key Outcomes
- You take care of the external data management lifecycle, from data demand assessment, through purchasing and contract-related processes, to data delivery.
- You manage and continuously optimize the external data provider portfolio, ensuring standardization in line with business needs.
- You maintain and manage purchasing and work cycle processes in SAP in line with Procurement.
- You serve as the central point of contact for the external data portfolio, acting as the knowledge authority for subscription packages, licensing models, and permitted usage across the organization.
- You administer sub-services for external data subscriptions, including the creation, maintenance, and update of service calculations and cost models as well as general user access gatekeeping.
- You actively support the implementation of our standardization strategy, particularly by managing and evolving the charging model towards a transparent and standardized cost allocation.
- You are responsible for communication with data consumers and controlling stakeholders, including cost transparency, charging logic, supplier updates, disruptions, and invoicing-related questions.
- You collaborate closely with technical experts to ensure efficient data provisioning and management of external data as standardized data products.
- You develop a sufficient understanding of the underlying data and use cases to effectively support procurement in discussions with data providers and stakeholder related questions.
- You work cross-functionally with experts from data, IT, procurement, controlling, and business units across the organization.
Job Requirements
- University degree in Business Administration, Business Informatics, or a comparable field.
- Strong interest in external data management, data provisioning, or data-related procurement processes.
- Structured and analytical working style with a high level of ownership and reliability.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft tools, especially Excel and Power BI and ideally first experience in SAP.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with pricing data, company data, trade data, or market intelligence data providers.
