Failure Analysis Technician

As a Failure Analysis Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting semiconductor package failure investigations and reliability analysis. Working closely with engineers and quality teams, you will conduct detailed physical and material analysis to identify defects, failure mechanisms, and root causes.
This role is hands-on and laboratory-based, requiring strong technical skills in sample preparation, microscopy, and analytical techniques. You will contribute directly to improving product quality, reliability, and manufacturing performance.
What you'll Do

Perform Construction Analysis (ConAna) on semiconductor packages following SOPs and work instructions

Conduct failure analysis using techniques such as SCAT, DPA, cross-sectioning, IMC measurement, and cratering analysis
-
Prepare samples through cutting, mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching
-
Operate laboratory equipment including precision saws, polishing machines, optical microscopes, and measurement tools
-
Capture, analyze, and document microscopy images and measurement data
-
Perform dimensional measurements and visual inspections of semiconductor packages
-
Record findings and prepare reports in compliance with lab standards
-
Support engineers in failure investigations and root cause analysis
-
Ensure proper sample handling, identification, and traceability
-
Maintain lab equipment, cleanliness, and consumables
-
Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and equipment checks
-
Follow ESD, safety, and quality procedures
-
Report abnormalities and technical issues proactively

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
What you'll need
-
Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent
-
Experience or exposure to semiconductor failure analysis, reliability testing, or quality labs
-
Knowledge of optical microscopy and sample preparation techniques

Familiarity with JEDEC, IPC, or MIL-STD standards
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
-
Experience with SEM, EDX, or similar tools is an advantage
-
Familiarity with image analysis software or LIMS systems
-
Understanding of semiconductor packaging and assembly processes is preferred

Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

Ability to follow SOPs independently

Good communication and teamwork skills
