What will you do?

As a Commercial Lead, you will play a critical role in partnering with project and business leaders to drive commercial performance, financial discipline, and project success across our portfolio. You will provide trusted commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered in line with contractual obligations, commercial expectations, and Aurecon's financial governance requirements.

Here are the key things you will do to bring ideas to life:

  • Understand company business and commercial terms throughout a project life cycle

  • Being a business partner to project leaders (PL) and project managers (PM), supporting them on commercial and financial aspect of project management

  • Thoroughly understand contractual commercial arrangement of all projects, especially service fee, billing schedule, payment term etc.

  • Supporting and taking critical view of project data submitted by PL and PM in Proteus & Workday

  • Closely monitor project performance on both P&L and working capital and be able to highlight potential issues on projects to business leader, PL, PM and finance manager in a timely manner

  • Actively perform ETC/EAC review with PL and PM and ensure that ETC/EAC are complete and reflected in Proteus properly

  • Ensure that project accounting and revenue recognition comply with Aurecon policy and DoAM

  • Leading credit control activities (billing and collection process), which include working closely with PL and PM on billing, raising an invoice and deliver it to clients, proactively engage with clients/ and PL/PM to unlock situation resulting in late collection. The tasks will be performed by a credit control person under supervision of commercial lead.

  • Reviewing WIP balance and actions/owners to unlock billing through proactive behaviors with PL and PM are critical for this role

  • Monitoring WIP and AR aging on a regular basis, ensure that WIP and AR balance are accurate and properly reported on balance sheet and be able to timely identify issue which would require PL/PM and management attention

  • Involve in a planning process including annual budgeting and regular forecasting

  • Preparing project and commercial relating reports both regular and ad hoc

  • Being a key contact point on project financial and commercial matter for both internal and external stakeholder

  • Other duties as assigned from time to time

What can you bring to the team?

Firstly, you will share our genuine passion for re-imagining engineering and be someone who actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future. You will also need the following:

  • Overall 5 years of experience in a consulting business with at least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferable for a background in a commercial or project accountant, cost analyst, accountant, or similar role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA would be an advantage

  • Good interpersonal skill to cooperate with all levels including management

  • Ability to work independently and proactively as well as maintain a high level of accuracy

  • Structured problem solving with excellent analytical and organizational skill

  • Proficiency with MS Office and experience in Workday Finance or Power BI is a plus
