Job Summary

The Halal & Regulatory Assistant is responsible for supporting the company's Halal Assurance System (HAS), regulatory compliance, food safety certifications, and customer documentation requirements. The role assists in maintaining Halal, Kosher, GMP, HACCP, and FSSC 22000 systems while ensuring all raw materials, products, and processes comply with applicable regulatory and certification requirements. The incumbent will work closely with Quality, R&D, Purchasing, Production, and external certification bodies to support continuous compliance and audit readiness.

Job Responsibilities

Halal and Kosher Compliance

• Assist in managing and maintaining Halal (JAKIM & JAIS) and Kosher certification in accordance with relevant certification bodies.
• Assist in reviewing and approving raw materials, ingredients, processing aids, and packaging materials for Halal and kosher compliance.
• Assist in coordinating Halal certification applications, renewals, and surveillance audits.
• Assist in maintaining Halal assurance system (HAS) documentation, procedures, and records.
• Assist in conducting internal Halal audits and monitor corrective actions.
• Assist in organize Halal Committee meetings and follow up on action items.
• Assist in providing Halal awareness training to employees.
• Assist in addressing customer inquiries related to Halal certification and compliance.
• Familiar with myHalal ingredients and myehalal system.
• Liaise with JAKIM, JAIS, Rabbi, supplier, customer regarding Halal and Kosher matters.
• Ensure facility operations comply with Halal, Kosher and GMP.
• Maintain and update Kosher certification records and product listings.
  
  

Quality Assurance

• Assist in maintaining FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP and Regulatory. ,
• Assist in ensuring compliance with food safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
• Assist in regulatory compliance documentation.
• Assist and participate in risk assessments, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist in internal audits and support external certification audits
  
  

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry or related field.
  
  

Experience

• 1–2 years of experience in Halal application, renewal and audit within the food, flavor, ingredient or manufacturing industry.
• Experience with food safety management systems and audit activities.
  
  

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of Halal certification requirements and Halal Assurance Systems.
• Understanding of Kosher certification principles and requirements.
• Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, FSSC 22000, ISO 22000 and regulatory compliance.
• Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and presentation preparation.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated, organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  
  

Competency

• Certified Halal Executive recognized by JAKIM
• Knowledge and experience in GMP & HACCP are preferred.
• Halal Internal Auditor certification preferred
