Job Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA standards and site EHS policies.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, risk assessments, JHAs/JSAs and pre-task briefings.
- Knowledge of Monitor high-risk activities, including: Electrical work, arc-flash and LOTO, Working at heights, Confined-space entry, Battery rooms and chemical handling, Generator fuel and hot work
- Material handling and lifting.
- Contractor installation and maintenance work
- Verify permits, worker qualifications, PPE and method statements before work begins.
- Exercise stop-work authority for unsafe conditions or activities.
- Investigate incidents, injuries and near misses; complete root-cause analysis and track corrective actions.
- Maintain OSHA injury records, inspection reports, permits and training documentation.
- Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks and emergency-response drills.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness for fire, electrical incidents, chemical spills and medical emergencies.
- Monitor contractor compliance and escalate repeated or serious violations.
- Report safety performance, recurring risks and overdue corrective actions to management.
- OSHA 30-hour certification—strongly preferred.
- Data center, critical-facility, electrical, construction or industrial safety experience.
- CSP, ASP, CHST, NEBOSH or equivalent certification preferred.
- Strong understanding of: Lockout/Tagout, Electrical and arc-flash safety, PPE and hazard communication, Fall protection and ladder safety, Hot-work and confined-space controls and Emergency response and fire safety.
- Three or more years in a construction, industrial or mission-critical EH&S role with field-based responsibility, including direct experience conducting inspections, delivering safety training and investigating incidents.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification, or the ability to obtain it within sixty days of hire.
- Working knowledge of 29 CFR 1926 and 29 CFR 1910 as applied to electrical safe work practices, control of hazardous energy, fall protection, confined space entry, hot work, personal protective equipment and hazard communication.
- Demonstrated experience operating a permit-to-work system for high-risk activities.
- Current first aid, CPR and automated external defibrillator certification, or the ability to obtain it within sixty days.
- Demonstrated ability to hold a safety position under production pressure, including experience stopping or delaying work.
- Ability to pass client background screening and obtain and maintain client site access credentials.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to write an incident report that will withstand review by counsel and a regulator.
- Reads a set of client EHS requirements and translates them into what a crew must actually do differently tomorrow morning.
- Recognizes hazards in a partially energized, multi-trade environment where the controls are owned by several different parties.
- Influences without direct authority — persuading a crew, a supervisor and a client representative toward the same control.
- Writes clearly and factually under time pressure, distinguishing observation from conclusion.
- Keeps composure and sequence during an emergency, including managing a scene while starting a notification clock.
- Uses digital tools competently: learning management systems, incident platforms, permit systems and mobile inspection applications.
