Maintenance Engineer

Responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical maintenance activities to ensure reliable and efficient plant operations. This role focuses on improving equipment availability and performance through effective maintenance practices, timely troubleshooting, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

The Maintenance Engineer works closely with supervisors, technicians, and cross-functional teams to execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The role also supports the development of job plans, effective use of CMMS (SAP), and spare parts coordination to maintain optimal plant reliability and minimize downtime.

Main Accountabilities :

• Maintenance Coordination & Execution Support
• Assist in the execution of daily maintenance activities (PM, PdM, and corrective maintenance).
• Coordinate with technicians to ensure assigned work is completed on time.
• Support supervisors in monitoring work progress and updating status.
• Escalate any delays, abnormalities, or issues to the superior promptly.
• CMMS (SAP) Usage & Documentation
• Create, update, and close work orders in CMMS (SAP) accurately.
• Record maintenance data such as downtime, defects, and materials used.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of maintenance records.
• Assist in updating equipment information, checklists, and maintenance history.
• Spare Parts & Materials Handling
• Check spare parts availability before maintenance work execution.
• Coordinate with store to prepare and collect required materials/tools.
• Raise purchase requisitions for parts and follow up on delivery if required.
• Safety & Compliance
• Follow all safety procedures and ensure work is carried out safely.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with permit requirements (e.g., LOTO, hot work).
• Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.
• Troubleshooting Support
• Assist in basic troubleshooting of equipment issues and breakdowns.
• Work closely with technicians and engineers to resolve problems.
• Escalate complex issues to Senior Executive / Engineer.
• Preventive Maintenance Support
• Support implementation of preventive maintenance schedules and checklists.
• Ensure maintenance tasks are completed and properly recorded.
• Continuous Improvement Participation
• Participate in improvement initiatives and support RCA activities.
• Suggest simple improvements to enhance maintenance efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Shutdown & Project Assistance
• Assist in basic preparation for shutdown activities (tools, materials, coordination).
• Support execution of assigned maintenance tasks during shutdown.
• Collaboration
• Work closely with Production, Maintenance team, and other departments to support operations.
• Coordinate with contractors when required under supervision.
  
  

Requirement :

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline. 3–5 years (Mid-level) experience in maintenance or manufacturing environment.
• Basic to working knowledge of maintenance activities for:
• Utility systems (e.g., steam, compressed air, water, gases),
• Processing equipment (e.g., rotating equipment, pumps, tanks, valves, pipelines),
• Packaging or production lines (preferred)
• Familiarity with preventive and corrective maintenance practices; exposure to predictive maintenance is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of CMMS / SAP or other maintenance management systems is preferred.
• Good analytical thinking with problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); ability to prepare basic reports and data analysis.
• Basic knowledge of safety regulations, permit-to-work systems, and compliance requirements.
