Project Manager

Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and highly motivated Project Manager to join our Projects department. This role is based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia and will be responsible for managing the commercial and operational execution of project shipments. The role involves overseeing end-to-end project logistics shipments, ensuring the successful delivery while maintaining high standards of service, safety, and operational excellence.

Your Role

• Manage and oversee the day-to-day project enquiries and operational activities within the department.
• Lead the planning and execution of project cargo shipments, ensuring successful delivery in accordance with client requirements and timeline. 
• Coordinate closely with the various Blue Water Shipping offices, agents and internal support functions including Chartering Desks, Technical & Engineering, HSSEQ to ensure smooth project execution.
• Maintain timely communication with both internal and external stakeholders, including providing regular update of shipment to client.  
• Take ownership of operational challenges by identifying issues early, following escalation procedures where necessary, and driving resolutions to ensure project success.
• Support business growth by identifying new opportunities in both domestic and international markets especially in Oil & Gas and Industrial and Capital Projects locally in Malaysia
• Build and maintain strong client relationships by delivering exceptional service and acting as a trusted logistics partner to customers.
• Manage and evaluate the performance and service quality of subcontractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with project requirements and company standards.
• Attending of loading, discharging operations in the region and globally when required.  
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with transporting over dimension cargo, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
• Prepare accurate and timely reports for the head of department. 
• Conduct post-project reviews to evaluate project outcomes, capture lessons learnt and implement continuous improvement initiatives for future projects.
  
  

Your Background

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in handling heavy cargo or out-of-gauge operations, logistics, or project management.
• Strong familiarity with specialized vessels and equipment, such as MPP/heavylift vessels, deck carriers, semi-subs, multi-axle trailers and self-propelled modular transporters, as well as a working knowledge of customs procedures for oversized cargo.
• Possess a solid understanding of transportation regulations, particularly those related to oversize and heavy haul shipments within Singapore/Malaysia/Johor region
• Commercially minded with strong customer relationship management skills, capable of identifying business opportunities and developing long-term partnerships with clients.
• Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate with different stakeholders. 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond effectively to operational challenges and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
