We are looking for a talented Quality and Compliance Inspector to join our team in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This role to be based on-site at the supplier's facility in Desaru, Malaysia to provide continuous oversight of their manufacturing processes and product quality. This role requires domestic travelling too.

Ensures products received or produced meet technical specifications trains others and assists in process development. Works under minimal supervision.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Key Responsibilities

  • Verifies the final quality of products on the production line.
  • Compares the physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment and products to technical specifications to identify defects.
  • Separates products that do not have the desired technical specification, using basic and/or complex measurement techniques and equipment.
  • Documents products that do not meet technical specifications using specified systems. Trains others in the use of measurement equipment, segregation of non-conforming product and documentation.
  • Follows the norms and standards of quality defined by the Company.
  • Reports progress on problem resolution to management. Assists in the development of new methods and procedures.
  • Product Quality Control
  • Verify the final quality of products on the supplier's production line against Cummins and project-specific technical specifications.
  • Compare physical characteristics of components, materials, and finished products to drawings/specs using basic and complex measurement techniques and equipment to identify defects.
  • Segregate and clearly identify non-conforming product to prevent escape to the Cummins end customer.
  • Perform first-article, in-process, support ITP and final inspections at defined quality gates.
  • Process Control & Compliance
  • Monitor supplier manufacturing processes daily to ensure adherence to approved control plans, work instructions, and project specifications.
  • Working closely with supplier Quality and Production team to maintain quality and project scheduled delivery
  • Detect and flag any unauthorized process changes, sub-supplier additions, or material substitutions and escalate for approval.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Document non-conformances in the specified quality systems and maintain inspection records.
  • Provide daily/weekly quality status reports to Cummins APAC Quality leadership on supplier performance, open issues, and containment actions.
  • Report progress on problem resolution and drive closure of corrective actions at supplier.
  • Supplier Development & Training
  • Train supplier operators and inspectors on the Cummins quality standards, segregation of non-conforming product, and documentation practices.
  • Assist the supplier in developing inspection methods and process control where gaps are identified.
  • Act as the on-site Cummins representative the single point of contact between the supplier's shop floor, supplier's quality inspectors and Cummins Quality/Engineering teams.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Follow and enforce the norms and quality standards defined by Cummins.
  • Support root cause analysis on field/customer issues linked to the supplier and drive preventive actions.
  • Contribute to reducing NC, scrap, and rework at the supplier site.

  • Quality Process Management - Proficient application of quality tools and methods (e.g. APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, Capability studies, Process Audit, inspection, test, etc.) to ensure quality of products, processes and services.
  • Values differences - Recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization.
  • Laboratory Management - Leads technical resources while managing the business aspects of a laboratory using measure to control both the technical and business aspects of the organization and assuring the requirements of the appropriate certifications and/or accreditations are met.

Preferred Qualification

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Requires significant relevant work experience, specialized skills obtained through education, training, and on-the-job experience.
  • Preferably 5+ years experience in Customer Facing, Cross Functional, Service or Product Engineering Quality.
