Regional Learning Director

Role Profile

As Regional Learning Director, you own and continuously improve the learning offer across ISP Malaysia schools, ensuring strong student outcomes and a differentiated, competitive product. Lead delivery of the ISP Learning & Innovation Strategy by embedding quality, strengthening the offer, and building leadership capability across the region.

About ISP Malaysia

ISP Malaysia operates nine schools across Klang Valley, Perak, Penang and Johor under Tenby, Asia Pacific and Straits International Schools, educating over 8,000 students.

Part of the global ISP group (120+ schools), we deliver international and Malaysian curricula with a strong focus on quality and outcomes. Our core learning pillars are Academic Achievements, Multilinguism, Life Competencies, Future Pathways and International Learning Opportunities (“ILOS”).

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibility 1 – Learning Quality & Strategy

  • Lead delivery of ISP’s Learning & Innovation Strategy across all schools.
  • Champion ISP's Learning.First. Framework and Learning Improvement Process (“LIP”) to embed quality across every school in the region.
  • Maintain clarity, consistency and pace of LIP priorities, avoiding unnecessary shifts and ensuring sustained focus on agreed improvement areas.
  • Ensure a differentiated learning offer from Early Years to Pre-University that is fit for purpose, future-proof and competitively superior for students and parents for our international and national curricula.

Key Responsibility 2 – School Performance & Accountability

  • Hold Heads and Senior Leaders accountable for learning outcomes, KPIs and improvement plans.
  • Drive robust self-evaluation and delivery against ISP learning criteria and indicators.
  • Ensure clear prioritised and high-impact initiatives, targets, disciplined execution and measurable in-year progress.
  • Apply judgement to balance Group requirements with regional and individual school context, ensuring support is tailored to each school’s stage and priorities.

Key Responsibility 3 – Evidence & Improvement

  • Lead the use of learning data (academic results, surveys, reviews) and ensure school-level learning data and dashboards are accurate, timely and used consistently to drive decision-making.
  • Ensure consistent, accurate and actionable evidence of learning across all schools.
  • Identify regional priorities and share best practice to improve performance.
  • Challenge schools to evaluate evidence rigorously against the 47 indicators and progress from Beginning to Developing to Mastering.

Key Responsibility 4 – Leadership & Capability

  • Coach and develop Heads and Senior Leaders to strengthen leadership of learning.
  • Build leadership capability through ISP programmes, Learning Hub and targeted development.
  • Support talent identification, succession planning, and leadership pipeline.
  • Collaborate with Regional HR, RMD, and School Heads to identify potential future Heads and those needing support.
  • Build a talent pool and succession plan for Senior Leaders.
  • Provide targeted support to new Heads and leadership teams, particularly in readiness for Learning Reviews and early-stage LIP implementation.
  • Ensure Pillar Leaders understand the practices behind their Learning Pillar and develop their use of the Pillar Roadmap to help schools self-evaluate their Pillar's impact on learning.

Key Responsibility 5 – Collaboration & Commercial Impact

  • Partner with Marketing, Admissions and Retention to translate learning quality into enrolment growth and retention.
  • Work with Regional and Group teams to align educational priorities with financial and growth targets and priorities.
  • Build strong relationships across schools and ISP networks to share practice and drive consistency.
  • Build deep understanding of each school’s context through regular in-school engagement, ensuring comparisons and challenge are fair, informed and credible.

Key Responsibility 6 – Reviews, Governance & Onboarding

  • Lead and participate in ISP Learning Reviews to assess and improve school performance.
  • Oversee onboarding and due diligence of new schools, ensuring rapid adoption of ISP standards.
  • Ensure compliance with ISP frameworks, data standards and safeguarding expectations.

  • School improvement progress (against ISP criteria).
  • Leadership capability and succession readiness.
  • Consistency of learning standards across schools.
  • Differentiation / future-proofing of learning offer and experiences.
  • Student outcomes (academic performance, value-add, multilinguism, future pathways, life competencies).
  • Enrolment growth and retention (linked to learning quality).

Line Management

  • The Regional Learning Director reports directly to the Regional Managing Director (RMD), with a dotted line to the Divisional Chief Learning Officer (DCLO) to deliver the L&I Strategy and KPIs.
