- Supervise and manage multiple scripture translation projects in accordance with established policies, practices, and timelines; maintain project tracking systems, documentation, and regular progress reports.
- Evaluate the quality of translated materials to ensure doctrinal accuracy and linguistic excellence. Conduct linguistic analyses and gather feedback from native speakers to confirm alignment with Church standards established by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve.
- Provide continuous training, mentoring, and capability-building for translators, ecclesiastical reviewers, and other team members to ensure high translation quality and consistency; participate in supervisor development and training activities.
- Perform linguistic and cultural research and testing to ensure translation accuracy, readability, and cultural relevance.
- Recommend and implement improvements to translation processes, tools, and workflows; help establish and maintain standard procedures and best practices across teams.
- Coordinate closely with support linguists, coordinators, and ecclesiastical authorities; establish and maintain relationships with area and headquarters personnel involved in scripture translation.
- Oversee the development, maintenance, and refinement of language resources such as terminology databases, translation glossaries, and style guides to ensure consistency and accuracy across projects.
- Participate in interviewing and selecting team members and complete additional assignments as directed by management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics or a related field, with at least 2 years of professional experience in translation, linguistics, or a related area, plus at least 2 years of experience in project management, including supervision or leadership of teams and demonstrated success in completing projects.
- Mastery of spoken and written English, demonstrating a strong command of vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax. In addition to English, functional knowledge of at least one Indic language is preferred.
- Skilled in time and project management, problem-solving, and working under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coach teams with compassion and integrity. Strong interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills, with proven effectiveness in team collaboration and conflict resolution.
- Sound understanding of ancient and modern scripture, Church doctrine, policies, and ecclesiastical organization.
- Broad knowledge of countries, history, culture, current events, customs, and values associated with the languages being translated, ensuring cultural sensitivity and contextual accuracy.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, operating systems, and translation management platforms. Familiarity with computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools preferred, and ability to provide basic technical support.
