Position Overview
Mid-End AOI Technical Staff
The Mid-End AOI Technical Staff serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) technologies within Mid-End manufacturing operations. The role is responsible for driving technical excellence in AOI inspection strategy, recipe optimization, defect detection capability, process characterization, yield improvement, and advanced problem-solving. Working across multiple functional teams, the individual provides technical leadership to enhance product quality, manufacturing robustness, and operational efficiency.

Position Overview
Mid-End AOI Technical Staff
The Mid-End AOI Technical Staff serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) technologies within Mid-End manufacturing operations. The role is responsible for driving technical excellence in AOI inspection strategy, recipe optimization, defect detection capability, process characterization, yield improvement, and advanced problem-solving. Working across multiple functional teams, the individual provides technical leadership to enhance product quality, manufacturing robustness, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
AOI Technology Leadership
- Serve as the technical authority for AOI processes across Mid-End manufacturing.
- Develop and maintain best-in-class AOI inspection methodologies, standards, and specifications.
- Drive continuous enhancement of AOI detection capability while minimizing false calls and inspection variability.
- Establish and optimize inspection strategies to maximize defect capture and process effectiveness.
- Perform detailed data analytics to identify defect trends, process excursions, and yield losses.
- Lead complex root cause investigations using statistical and engineering methodologies.
- Define and optimize process windows through DOE, characterization studies, and capability analysis.
- Develop innovative solutions to improve inspection accuracy, throughput, and manufacturing quality.
- Evaluate and implement advanced AOI technologies, algorithms, and inspection methodologies.
- Lead technical assessments for new equipment, software upgrades, and system enhancements.
- Collaborate with suppliers and equipment manufacturers on technology roadmaps and capability improvements.
- Benchmark industry best practices and identify opportunities for adoption.
- Support NPI and technology transfer activities by developing and validating AOI inspection solutions.
- Define inspection requirements and qualification criteria for new products and packages.
- Ensure inspection coverage and defect detection capability meet customer and business requirements.
- Partner with Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Provide technical consultation on defect mechanisms, yield improvement, and process optimization.
- Support customer technical reviews, audits, and quality investigations when AOI expertise is required.
- Develop technical standards, specifications, best practices, and lessons learned.
- Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and provide technical guidance to engineering teams.
- Drive standardization of AOI recipes and inspection methodologies across manufacturing operations.

- Equipment qualification and validation.
- Advanced data analytics and statistical interpretation.
- JMP, Minitab, Python, SQL, or equivalent analytical tools.
- Large dataset analysis and pattern recognition.
- Technical report generation and presentation.
- Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, or PhD in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Materials Science, Physics, or related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8-12 years of semiconductor manufacturing experience.
- Extensive experience in AOI, vision inspection systems, quality engineering, or process engineering.
- Demonstrated track record in solving complex manufacturing and quality challenges.
- Strong experience in process optimization, NPI support, and technology development.
- Knowledge of automotive and semiconductor quality requirements (IATF16949, SPC, FMEA, Control Plan) is preferred.
