Job Overview

The Trade Compliance Screening Administrator is a front-line compliance role within the Global Trade and Federal Contract Compliance function, reporting to the Director, Global Trade & Federal Contract Compliance. Based in Penang, Malaysia, the Analyst is responsible for customer due diligence, restricted-party screening, ownership research, and classification data intake across all Penguin Solutions business units. This position provides follow-the-sun screening coverage, clearing daily queues and delivering completed, decision-ready work packages to the U.S. Corporate Trade Compliance Team before the U.S. workday begins. The role directly supports Penguin Solutions’ expansion into new markets and complex multi-party engagements while meeting regulatory obligations across multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

  • Vet potential customers and transaction parties through Know Your Customer (KYC) and due diligence processes to determine whether Penguin Solutions can engage, and surface trade compliance risks before commitment.
  • Review, release, document, or escalate compliance holds in SAP/GTS or a comparable global trade and screening platform to keep transactions compliant and moving.
  • Review customer-submitted End-Use Statements for red flags, inconsistencies, and diversion risk.
  • Trace each transaction party’s ownership structure to its ultimate parent to identify country-of-concern control and affiliate-based restrictions.
  • Capture and document data to assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes for new products.
  • Collect complete technical information, identify missing or inconsistent data, identify comparable products, and prepare Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) packages for U.S. Corporate Trade Compliance Team review.
  • Maintain audit-ready records of all screening decisions, escalations, and diligence findings.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in international trade, business, supply chain, or a related field.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in customs compliance, KYC/due diligence, logistics, trade operations, or a related function.
  • Strong written English with the ability to produce clear, audit-ready documentation.
  • Analytical skills with attention to detail, particularly in verifying corporate ownership structures and identifying discrepancies.
  • Ability to work independently with a U.S.-based manager reporting structure.
  • Structured training will be provided on Penguin Solutions’ SAP/GTS workflows, U.S. restricted-party lists, ownership-tracing methodology, classification intake processes, and escalation procedures.
  • Familiarity with restricted-party and sanctions screening processes.
  • Experience with SAP/GTS or a comparable global trade or screening platform.
  • Exposure to U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), OFAC sanctions programs, or Malaysia’s Strategic Trade Act.
  • Experience with HTS or ECCN classification concepts.
  • Background in the semiconductor, electronics, technology, medical device, logistics, or multinational shared-services sectors.
