VP of Human Resource, Malaysia – NS BlueScope

At NS BlueScope Malaysia, we are looking for an experienced and commercially minded HR leader to join us as Vice President, Human Resources, Malaysia. This is a senior country HR leadership role, serving as a member of both the Regional Human Resources Leadership Team and the Country Management Team. The role reports to the VP People, NS BlueScope Asia and China, with a dotted reporting line to the Country President, Malaysia.

In this role, you will lead the in-country HR function and partner closely with business leaders to strengthen organisational capability, shape a constructive and inclusive workplace culture, and ensure HR practices are practical, consistent and well governed. You will play an important role in enabling the Malaysia business to deliver its priorities through effective people strategies, strong leadership capability and disciplined HR execution.

What You Will Lead

• You will work with the country leadership team to strengthen leadership effectiveness, employee engagement and organisational culture. This includes developing practical frameworks and capability plans that support learning, collaboration, diversity of thought and shared accountability across the business.
• You will lead the delivery of people and culture solutions that create tangible business value. This includes aligning HR strategies with business priorities, improving workforce practices, and ensuring leaders are equipped with the knowledge, tools and systems they need to lead effectively.
• You will reinforce process rigour, compliance and transparency across HR practices. You will help build a workplace environment where standards are clear, decisions are well governed, and employees experience fair, consistent and inclusive people practices.
• You will lead and develop the HR team in Malaysia, creating a collaborative, capable and high-performing function that partners effectively with the business and contributes to broader organisational success.
• You will contribute to the evolution of the HR function through the adoption of AI, digital technologies, and innovative people practices, ensuring HR remains agile, future-ready, and responsive to the changing business environment.
  
  

What You Will Bring

• You will bring substantial HR leadership experience, preferably gained in a multinational organisation, with proven experience leading an HR function in a complex operating environment. Direct experience working with unions in the Malaysian manufacturing context will be important for success in this role.
• You should have strong technical grounding across HR policies, practices, employee relations, learning and development, and organisational capability. Equally important will be your ability to build trusted partnerships with senior leaders, influence across functions, and translate people priorities into practical outcomes for the business.
• A degree in Human Resources or a related field would be advantageous.
