Assistant Manager, Technical Vendor Management (Consumables, Expendables and Rotables)

Reports To

Manager, Material Planning

Role Purpose

Lead to achieve savings and value creation targets for the spend category. Provide technical and commercial support throughout the sourcing process, including managing supplier relationships, RFX, and negotiations. Build strong supplier partnerships for continuous improvement. Work with Group Procurement to develop and implement annual sourcing strategies and manage risks.

Key Accountability
  • Proactively review annual spend across suppliers/ budgets and prioritize focus areas for cost improvement, using levers such as spare parts harmonization, specification optimization, parts for consignments, alternate vendors, volume consolidation, new vendor development, long term contracting, make vs buy etc.
  • Business partnering with stakeholders such as Group Procurement/ Tech Services to support improvement in TCO (total cost of ownership). Take joint ownership with Group procurement to develop sourcing strategies and support/ manage all aspects of the strategic sourcing process.
  • Syndicate with Group Procurement to proactively develop and implement annual sourcing programs/ cost improvement targets through structured sourcing process (category strategy, planning, RFx, negotiations, supplier selection) that leads to successful commercialization of partnerships.
  • Understand key cost drivers of assigned spend categories (Consumables, Expendables and Rotables) using value drivers to develop negotiation and cost management strategy.
  • Communicate regularly the market updates, performance, objectives, and service risk/disruption to the business to the leadership/ impacted stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships. Drive supplier performance improvement.
  • Perform proactive financial analysis of contract proposals to identify value.
  • Conduct broad industry research/ benchmarking to identify creative ideas and solutions.
  • Assess vendor/ contract issues and risks, and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Effectively communicate complex information to stakeholders to facilitate clear understanding and decision-making.
  • Comply with applicable policies and procedures and ensure Code of Conduct and Ethics policies are foremost in all supplier interactions.
Qualifications & Working Experience

Degree in any field with 8 years of working experience and track record in Purchasing/ procurement, including relevant industry experience in aviation and category (Consumables/ Expendables/ Rotables purchase).

Skills & Knowledge
  • Ability to lead efforts to meet savings and value targets.
  • Skill in providing technical and commercial support, managing suppliers, and handling negotiations.
  • Expertise in building and maintaining strong supplier partnerships.
  • Strong negotiation skills & Strong Power BI/ Excel skills.
Key Challenges
  • Meeting ambitious savings and value creation goals while balancing cost efficiency with strategic partnership development.
  • Navigating complex supplier negotiations and ensuring compliance with policies and ethical standards.
