Job description:

Job Summary The BO Chargeman is responsible for overseeing, managing, and maintaining all electrical systems and installations within the shopping mall, including 11kV incoming supply, LV systems, and related M&E infrastructure. The role ensures compliance with statutory regulations and safety standards to support uninterrupted mall operations and tenant satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot high and low voltage electrical systems (up to 11kV) including switchgear, transformers, and main switchboards
• Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and ensure efficient operations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external contractors to schedule maintenance and repair activities.
• Maintain accurate records of electrical system performance, faults, inspections, and maintenance activities.
• Respond to emergencies, electrical breakdowns, or system alarms promptly and effectively.
• Conduct risk assessments, lead safety briefings, and enforce safe work procedures within the team.
• Register and maintain Competency Qualification with Suruhanjaya Tenaga, ensuring all electrical systems are in optimal condition.
• Support energy management initiatives to reduce power consumption and enhance sustainability.
• Support the mall Operation team in overall mall maintenance and operation matters.
• Any other duties that will be assigned from time to time by the Management

Qualifications

• Valid BO Chargeman Certificate (B0 - 11kV) certified by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission of Malaysia).
• Experience in preventive maintenance, calibration of M&E equipment, and building structure maintenance.
• Practical experience in managing both major and routine electrical shutdowns.
• Strong knowledge of the Electricity Supply Act, Suruhanjaya Tenaga regulations, and IEE Wiring Regulations.
• Must be able to be on-call and respond promptly to emergency situations within the shopping mall.

Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of energy efficiency practices (e.g., PUE, energy benchmarking).
• Familiarity with fire protection systems, BMS, and mechanical services.
• Able to read and interpret single line diagrams (SLD), electrical schematics, and technical manuals.

Expected Minimum Years of Experience

• Minimum 5 years of working experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in commercial properties or shopping malls.
