The Maintenance Driver supports the MRO team by providing reliable and safe ground transportation of personnel, materials, tools, and aircraft components between offices, hangars, airports, stores, and designated facilities. The role ensures timely delivery to support maintenance operations, contributing to overall aircraft maintenance efficiency and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Safely drive and operate a company‑assigned vehicles to transport staff, maintenance personnel, parts, tools, and equipment as required by maintenance schedules and operational needs.
Pick up and deliver aircraft components, materials, and necessary supplies between warehouses, stores, hangars, offices, and external vendors/contractors. Ensure secure handling and proper documentation of items transported.
Assist in loading, unloading, and safe handling of cargo particularly heavy or sensitive items (aircraft parts, tools, consumables) while adhering to safety and handling procedures.
Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of company vehicles (fuel, oil, tires, cleanliness, safety checks) to ensure they remain in good working condition; report any defects or issues immediately.
Maintain accurate records/logs of vehicle usage, deliveries, pick‑ups, travel times, mileage, and materials transported to support inventory tracking and audit readiness.
Coordinate with MRO planning or logistics teams to ensure transportation aligns with maintenance schedules and part/component delivery deadlines.
Comply with all relevant safety, security, and regulatory requirements including airport/airfield regulations when operating within or near aviation facilities.
Notify management and relevant departments promptly of any delays, accidents, incidents, or transport‑related issues affecting maintenance operations or deliveries.
Requirements / Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Valid and appropriate driving licence / Airside Driving Permit (for the type of vehicle used) with a clean driving record.
Good knowledge of local roads/routing and ability to navigate around airports, hangars, and facilities.
Basic mechanical or vehicle maintenance awareness is a plus (ability to spot and report vehicle issues).
Responsible, punctual, reliable, and able to handle time‑sensitive tasks often under tight maintenance schedules.
Good physical fitness to handle loading/unloading of parts and materials when required.
Basic literacy in record‑keeping (log books, delivery logs) and ability to communicate effectively with maintenance, logistics, and management teams.
Familiarity with aviation working environments and safety protocols is advantageous (airport access rules, restricted‑area protocols, handling of aircraft parts/materials).
Reporting & Work Conditions
Reports to the Maintenance Manager or any other designation that is assigned to.
Required to work in shifts, including early mornings / late evenings / weekends depending on maintenance schedule and aircraft turnaround requirements.
Must comply with all company safety, security, and procedural protocols, especially when entering or operating within airport/hangar grounds.
