In line with our increasing business, we are looking for qualified and experienced candidates for Electrical Power Systems Engineer to join our South-East Asian T&D team and be based in our Malaysia office in Kuala Lumpur.
Job Description
Our T&D Power Systems team assists clients in achieving compliance and efficiency by conducting power systems studies to navigate the design, grid connection and access standards for their energy generation projects. You will become part of a global, tight-knit team of power systems engineers engaged in diverse projects supporting multiple type of international interconnection and grid connection projects (solar, wind, hydro, etc.). Our team also provides technical assistance to Transmission Grid Operators and helps the private sector secure crucial grid investments through expert technical support. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your career and play a pivotal role in expanding and shaping the business in South-East Asia for a multinational company while supporting clients across Asia, but also Australia, Europe, and Africa.

Responsibility:
- Conduct power systems studies (steady-state and dynamic) for power generation grid connection projects (feasibility, design stages), transmission and development plans & roadmaps, transmission failure investigation etc. primarily in South-East Asia but also in Europe, Middle East, Australia and Africa.
- Perform power system modelling and analysis for generation grid connection studies, including solar, wind, thermal and energy storage systems.
- Prepare comprehensive study reports, ranging from connection feasibility studies for energy developers to detailed static and dynamic connection studies for utilities, as well as other power systems studies related to distributed generation integration and grid augmentation.
- Deliver high-quality outputs within agreed parameters, formats, and timelines, and review the work of other employees when necessary.
- Conduct complex assessments, provide specialist advice/solutions and training, conduct technical presentations to internal and external clients.
- Engage in technical developmental activities, including attending conferences and participating in industry presentations.
- Bachelor/Master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Having 3-5 years of relevant working experience in power system modelling and analysis related to grid connection for generation (renewable, hydro and thermal projects), feasibility/design studies for transmission assets, technical support to national transmission utilities.
- Proven knowledge and experience on performing complex transmission power system studies such as: steady state analysis, short circuit analysis, transient stability analysis, generator model validation. Any additional experience on the following fields is beneficial: cable design, protection coordination and relay settings studies, harmonic analysis, small signal stability, adequacy studies and probabilistic approaches.
- Familiar with international codes and standards relevant to detailed electrical design for transmission and distribution assets such as NEC, IEC, IEEE/ANSI, NFPA, EIT standards.
- Demonstrated experience in power system simulation softwares such as Siemens PSS/E and/or DigSILENT Power Factory, including automation with Python scripting. Any additional proven capabilities in other power system studies tools such as PSCAD, ETAP etc. is beneficial.
- Experience working within a national T&D company, and/or supporting similar projects within technical consultancy companies.
- Being a registered and certified engineer to carry out power system analysis in Malaysia is beneficial. Having experience and knowledge of the Malaysian Power System Studies Stage 1, Stage 2 processes, LSS, CRESS, SELCO scheme etc. is beneficial.
- Having ability to manage works under time and resources constraints to finish works in time with good quality and having ability to work under pressure
- Having good logic of thinking, problem solving and willingness working in team.
- Good level in English communication.
