We are looking for an experienced SAP S/4HANA Finance Functional Consultant specializing in Tax to support the Design to Deploy phases of a large-scale S/4HANA implementation. This role focuses on Indirect Tax (e.g., VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax), SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC), and integration with third-party tax engines. The ideal candidate will work closely with tax, finance, and compliance stakeholders to ensure the system meets global and local tax requirements and supports automation of statutory reporting and e-invoicing obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Phase
Implement global and country-specific tax reporting needs following end-to-end Indirect Tax processes for procurement and sales, including tax determination logic, jurisdiction handling, and reporting flows.
Implement solutions for SAP DRC (formerly ACR/eDocument Framework) including country-specific reporting formats, e-invoicing mandates, and regulatory requirements.
Provide functional expertise on integration points between SAP tax functionality and external tax engines (ONLY for example - Vertex, Avalara, Sovos).
Build Phase
Configure SAP S/4HANA Finance for tax compliance, including:
o Tax procedures, tax codes, condition techniques, and jurisdictional structures.
o SAP DRC configuration for mandated electronic invoicing, reporting, and e-archive.
o Country-specific logic for withholding tax, reverse charge, self-billing, and deferred tax handling.
Partner with development teams to deliver RICEFW objects related to DRC, tax automation, and custom reporting formats.
Test Phase
Develop and execute test plans to validate tax configuration in OTC and P2P scenarios, ensuring accurate tax calculation and reporting.
Test SAP DRC outputs including XML generation, digital signature, and submission to tax authorities.
Support issue resolution across configuration, master data, and integration touchpoints.
Deploy Phase
Support cutover activities, ensuring tax configuration, reporting formats, and master data are complete and accurate.
Assist in go-live preparation, including testing of live tax scenarios and stabilization of SAP DRC processes.
Deliver training and documentation to finance, tax, and compliance users.
Required Skills and Experience:
8+ years of SAP Finance experience, with at least 3 years in SAP S/4HANA projects.
Deep functional knowledge of Indirect Tax configuration in SAP (VAT, GST, Sales/Use Tax).
Proven experience with SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC) and electronic invoicing/reporting for multiple countries.
Familiarity with external tax engine integration (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, Sovos).
Strong understanding of SD and MM integration for tax-relevant processes.
End-to-end exposure to SAP Activate methodology, covering design through go-live.
Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
SAP S/4HANA Finance certification.
Practical experience configuring SAP DRC for specific jurisdictions (e.g., Italy SDI, India e-Invoicing, Malaysia e-Invoice).
Knowledge of statutory tax reporting and audit requirements in key regions (e.g., EU, US, APAC).
Experience with Agile or hybrid project delivery models.
