Job Overview
Sri KDU International School Klang is looking to appoint an innovative and dynamic Head of Secondary to join our talented, energetic, and friendly school in January 2026. The school is an ambitious co-ed Primary and Secondary school on a modern and spacious campus. We deliver the Cambridge Curriculum culminating in IGCSEs for our older learners at the age of 16. We are part of the XCL Education group of schools with 7 campuses across Malaysia.
Responsible For
The Head of Secondary provides visionary leadership to staff and students, fostering a culture of academic excellence and holistic pastoral care. This role is pivotal in shaping and delivering strategic priorities, ensuring high standards in teaching, learning, and student wellbeing across Key Stages 3 to 4. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Head of Secondary drives continuous improvement and innovation in line with the school’s mission and values.
Reports To: Campus Principal
Interfaces With
Campus Principal, Head of Primary, Key Stage Coordinators, teaching staff, other relevant personnel and students within the school, relevant non-teaching support staff, parents and other relevant stakeholders

Job Purpose
- To provide strategic and operational leadership to the Secondary School in consultation with the Campus Principal.
- To ensure that the XCL Five Promises to Parents and consistently delivered
- To contribute towards strategic planning for the whole school as part of the School Leadership Team through active participation in leadership meetings, the formation and implementation of the school’s Educational Improvement Planning process
- To provide inspiration and guidance to the staff and students of the Secondary School to ensure that all students can achieve exceptional academic and personal outcomes.
- To be an outstanding role model to colleagues and students, including in the digital world, to support and enhance learning and innovation across the school.
- To be responsible for the operational running of the Secondary School Day, including timetable planning, organising cover and preparing staff rotas.
- To line manage, appraise and support the development of key staff, including Secondary and cross-phase academic departmental heads.
- To liaise with the Director of Student Services on the implementation of Pastoral and Behaviour matters, ensuring high standards for all students.
- To ensure that all behaviour management processes are followed consistently throughout the Secondary School.
- To assist the Campus Principal in the monitoring and follow-up of students who have been subject to a fixed-term exclusion (external suspension from school).
- To ensure the implementation of the rewards and sanctions system in liaison with the Director of Student Services.
- To monitor and evaluate student attendance rates at all levels, set attendance targets for the school, year groups, form groups and individuals.
- To ensure that regular and effective pastoral meetings take place.
- To oversee processes related to parental reporting, Parent Teacher Conferences, Academic Review Days and testimonials, drawing up an appropriate schedule for their delivery, to a high standard.
- To oversee and manage the annual Awards Day event.
- To monitor and evaluate the quality of the PSHLE and form time provision in collaboration with the Director of Student Services. To oversee the performance of Form Tutors and allocate tutors to forms on an annual basis in liaison with the Director of Student Services.
- To ensure Secondary School Assemblies are appropriate and of a high quality.
- To oversee the process of setting academic targets for students and to work towards their achievement.
- To oversee the implementation of standardised testing in the Secondaryschool, including all GL assessments.
- To implement and monitor appropriate academic data tracking processes and interventions, including chairing frequent Pupil Progress Meetings.
- To construct an effective timetable each year to deliver the curriculum, and to ensure continuity from primary to secondary in liaison with the Head of Primary
- To monitor and evaluate academic standards in the Secondary School through the analysis of student outcomes and the implementation of the quality assurance processes of the school.
- To ensure effective management of academic analysis and of the evaluation of performance data in the Secondary school.
- To identify and take appropriate action on issues arising from data, systems and reports, setting deadlines where necessary and review progress on the action taken.
- To oversee the conduct of all public and internal examinations managed by the Examinations Officer.
- To ensure regular and effective Academic meetings take place.
- To lead monitoring processes within the Secondary School, including Tracking the Learning and Evidence of Learning.
- To monitor and evaluate the overall progress and development of students, including those with special educational needs, EAL and students with Exceptional.
- Academic Potential.
- To be the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for the secondary school in line with the school’s needs.
- To maintain a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils.
- To ensure that statutory responsibilities and Company policies concerning Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities and other relevant legislation are fulfilled.
- To undertake appropriate child protection training when required.
- To promote positive and healthy values to students through all co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
- To actively assist the admissions processes of the school in liaison with the Head of Marketing and Admissions
- To conduct admissions interviews for all Secondary School students and to advise the Campus Principal on Admissions decisions.
- To lead the Academic Staff in representing the school in necessary marketing activities, including open days.
- To contribute to staff training and development.
- Continual development through the identification and implementation of your own Personal Development Plan.
- To undertake any other relevant responsibilities as reasonably directed by the Campus Principal.
