The Fulfillment tech family is one of the pillars enabling Grab to out-serve our customers and partners in different businesses and marketplaces across Southeast Asia. We are working on high throughput, real-time distributed systems that use advanced software engineering techniques to solve hundreds of millions of requests per day. You will be reporting to Senior Software Engineering Manager, Fulfilment. We are a distributed team in 5 different locations: Singapore, Beijing, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Romania.

Get to know the role

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our Fulfilment Platform Engineering Team. We are looking for a candidate with experience in cloud engineering, system design and architecture, and infrastructure automation and integration, always delivers high-quality code, and is willing to guide junior engineers. This role is required because we are revamping our operational fundamentals to improve the automation and efficiency of market operations. In return, you will work with a great team on complex architectures and business.

This role is onsite based in our Petaling Jaya, Malaysia office.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• You will design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend services using Golang within a microservices architecture.
• You will lead medium to complex projects independently. This includes defining technical designs and solutions, driving the alignment with stakeholders, adhering to best coding practices, and addressing non-functional requirements.
• You will implement best practices and coding standards to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our backend systems.
• You will write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, and conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to software development best practices.
• You will optimize and enhance existing backend systems for improved performance and scalability.
• You will troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues and system failures, ensuring resolution to minimize impact on production environments.
• You will embrace the DevOps culture to automate deployment, testing, monitoring, and scaling of backend services on AWS.
  
  

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• You have at least 7+ years of experience as a software engineer writing production code
• You have solid software engineering and coding skills. Experience in at least one backend language like Go, Scala, Java, C++, or others is required. You can be a good coder in any language but must be willing to work on Golang
• You can build microservices architecture and understanding of distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and message queuing systems.
• You have hands-on experience with performance profiling, optimization, and debugging of backend systems.
• You have experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB).
• You have familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
• You have knowledge of software development best practices, including version control (Git), unit testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
