Legal Officer

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement legal and secretarial strategies to support the Company’s goal and objectives.
• Provides legal counsel and advice on all construction law related matters, including contract disputes, payment claims, defects claims etc.
• Contract drafting, legal research, review, interpret, and prepares both written and verbal opinions on wide variety of legal matters. (government related law preferred)
• To advise Board and Management on corporate secretarial matters in decision-making processes and to disseminate decision made to related parties.
• Liaise with external legal counsel if required.
• Ensure company meets its statutory obligations under the Companies Act 2016 and other relevant regulations such as MCMC, SMA, UBBL, UPKJ, CIDB, CIPAA, SSM.
• Organise and convene annual general meetings (AGM), Board meetings, arranging meeting agendas, materials, and taking minutes throughout.
• Familiar with construction terms such as LOI, LOA, WO, VO, and Performance Bonds.

Job Requirements:

• Knowledge of local laws and regulations, including the Companies Act 2016 and Bursa’s Listing Requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
