Maintenance Engineer

Your Job

As a Maintenance Engineer within the Molex CCS division, you will be responsible for ensuring the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of injection molding machines, automation systems, and auxiliary equipment. This role is based in Penang, Malaysia and plays a key part in supporting production reliability, process improvements, and equipment upgrades.

Our Team

You will work closely with cross-functional teams including production, process engineering, and quality assurance. The role also involves coordination with external vendors and technical support partners. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement.

What You Will Do

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions for recurring issues.
• Assist with mold changeovers, trials, and start-up activities.
• Maintain accurate records in the CMMS system, including breakdowns, spare parts usage, and modifications.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to enhance machine performance.
• Monitor and adjust machine parameters to uphold product quality and reduce scrap.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, ISO/IATF standards, and company policies.
• Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors for repairs and technical support.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as TPM, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing.
• Train technicians on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and safety practices.
• Provide on-call support for urgent breakdowns during off-hours or weekends.
• Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of new equipment.
  
  
  

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Maintenance Engineering.
• Knowledge of injection molding or maintenance in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Experience with injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled systems and basic automation troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in maintenance tools, measuring instruments, and CMMS software.
• Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in shift-based or on-call environments.
  
  
  

What Will Put You Ahead

• Certification or training in injection molding maintenance, hydraulics, pneumatics, or industrial automation.
• Advanced knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Mitsubishi, Siemens).
• Experience with robotics and automation systems.
• Familiarity with hot runner systems and mold temperature control.
• Understanding of ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 standards.
• Experience with TPM, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing practices.
• Ability to manage spare parts inventory and vendor coordination.
• Experience in energy efficiency improvements.
• Capability to train and mentor junior technicians.
