Your Job
As a Plating Manufacturing Manager at Molex Malaysia (Penang), your main responsibility is to oversee the development, implementation and optimization of manufacturing processes within the Plating department. You will manage a team of Engineers and Technicians, ensuring processes are efficient, cost-effective, and meet the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Plating manufacturing processes, problem-solving abilities, and leadership skills to drive continuous improvements across all production lines.

As a Plating Manufacturing Manager at Molex Malaysia (Penang), your main responsibility is to oversee the development, implementation and optimization of manufacturing processes within the Plating department. You will manage a team of Engineers and Technicians, ensuring processes are efficient, cost-effective, and meet the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Plating manufacturing processes, problem-solving abilities, and leadership skills to drive continuous improvements across all production lines.

You will manage a team that liaises closely with various internal stakeholders, such as Process Engineer, Production Engineer and Production Supervisor, to deliver exceptional service to our customers.
What You Will Do
- Lead and manage the optimization of Plating manufacturing processes to improve yield, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Implement Lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and increase process efficiency.
- Develop and execute continuous improvement programs, utilizing tools such as Six Sigma, DMAIC, and SPC to address process bottlenecks and improve operational efficiency.
- Monitor and analyze production data to identify trends, develop action plans, and resolve issues proactively.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of process engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
- Provide technical guidance and training to team members to ensure they remain up to date with the latest manufacturing technologies and best practices.
- Conduct performance reviews, identify skill gaps, and implement training programs to enhance team capabilities.
- Ensure all Plating processes meet industry quality standards and comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the quality control team to develop and implement quality assurance plans for new and existing processes.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for process-related quality issues, implementing corrective actions and preventive measures to ensure product consistency and reliability.
- Oversee the execution of process engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Develop project timelines, allocate resources, and monitor progress, ensuring that project goals are aligned with business objectives.
- Report on project status to senior management, highlighting milestones, risks, and proposed solutions to any challenges.
- Develop and manage the process engineering budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources for continuous improvement initiatives and capital expenditures.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through process improvements, equipment upgrades, and material efficiency.
- Reduction in scrap rates and rework costs.
- Improvement in production yield and efficiency.
- High customer satisfaction with product quality and process consistency.
- Successful implementation of process improvements leads to cost savings.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or related fields with more than 10 years manufacturing experience
- Currently hold a leadership role
- Plating experience will be added advantage
- A track record of achieving or exceeding KPI
- Strong familiarity with plating line machine, equipment and chemistry
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships within department
- Advanced expertise in electroplating and lead qualification
