Job Description:-

Candidates must be Sabahans or legally eligible to work in Sabah.

Candidates must be available to start immediately.

This position is on a contract basis and is renewable yearly based on satisfactory performance.


Main Responsibilities:-

  • Oversee the daily operations of JWM’s counter wildlife crime project in Sabah and ensure that all tasks are executed efficiently and within established timelines. This includes:
  • Monitoring project timelines closely, addressing any deviations and ensuring timely delivery of project objectives.
  • Coordinating activities related to JWM’s wildlife crime case tracking effort in Sabah.
  • Coordinate tasks and activities among on-site personnel, including the Case Trackers and Research Officer, and JWM’s network of volunteers and interns in Sabah and Sarawak.
  • Handle the administration and logistics of capacity-building deliverables in Sabah, ensuring the successful implementation of training and workshop activities. This includes preparing, administering, and analysing pre- and post-workshop surveys to assess outcomes and for strategic planning purposes.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with trainers and project partners in Sabah, maintaining open communication and addressing any needs or concerns with Project Manager.
  • Prepare quarterly reports on both programmatic progress and financials, ensuring all reporting requirements are met on time.
  • Produce reports and presentations to inform JWM’s wildlife conservation strategies related to legislation across Malaysia, specifically in Sabah.


Requirements:-

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Conservation Science, Wildlife Management, or equivalent is required. 1-3 years of working experience managing a wildlife conservation project is preferable.
  • Familiarity with Malaysian government procedures and formalities, especially in Sabah.
  • Interest and knowledge of wildlife conservation, law, and policy related to wildlife in Malaysia, specifically in Sabah, is required.
  • Familiarity with MS Office software and collaborative virtual platforms (Google Suite and Dropbox) is essential.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with adaptability to last-minute changes and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Ability to communicate well and professionally with stakeholders.
  • Bahasa Malaysia language proficiency is required.
  • Possessing a driving license (D) and a vehicle is essential.
  • Extensive travel is required.
