Proofreader - Malaysia

We are currently searching for a Proofreader/Editor in the Quality Assurance (QA) department.

Based in Petaling Jaya, your role will be to ensure that the highest quality of language is used in written documents issued by the company in terms of their technical, grammatical, and proper contextual accuracy. You will work across the whole company covering all departments and collaborating with colleagues at all levels. This is a full-time job with a permanent status.

Job Responsibilities

• Providing reviewed and edited reports (internal and external)
• Controlling the quality of reports and ensuring that they are clear, consistent, complete, and credible
• Ensuring that the material and text is well written, grammatically correct, and contextually accurate
• Reviewing to ensure that images and photos are correctly captioned and referred to in the right context
• Correcting spelling, checking grammar and layout, ensuring content uses an appealing and imposing language style, and rewriting (copy-editing) when needed
• Assessing external and internal reporting capabilities and the progress of employees
• Coordinating with management to upgrade reporting capabilities
• Checking that media searches are comprehensive
• Translating documents from Malay to English, and vice versa
• Providing and reviewing modules and procedures related to English report-writing skills and English conversation
• Conducting training and coaching for internal employees
  
  
  

Job Requirements:

• High level of integrity and professionalism
• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in English, Journalism, or other related fields
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role (editing/proofreading)
• High proficiency in English and Malay, both written and spoken
• Proficiency in the usage of MS Office and the Google Workspace
• Minimum TOEFL iBT Score: 100; TOEFL PBT Score: 550; IELTS Score: 7
• High level of attention to detail with excellent spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills
• Excellent team worker and time management
• Deadline-oriented
• Willing and able to extend working hours if needed
• Familiarity with ChatGPT and/or other proofreading/editing tools
• Preferably has experience in the fields of (academic or non-academic) research, content/report writing (media or publication), translation (provide portfolio of work if available)
