GE Vernova Gas Power has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Business Development Manager to be part of a regional team. This is a key role requiring you to leverage on your experience within the power generation industry and network of professional relationship to identify combine cycle plant opportunities by engaging with key stakeholders and decision makers within the energy sector. This includes Independent Power Providers (IPPs), local developers, regulators, utilities, EPCs, financers and consultants to name a few.

Job Description

As subject matter expert on decarbonisation, you are able to provide guidance to both internal and external stakeholders on the project development process and the various milestones in a gas power plant development, within a specific country(s), but also build the narrative on how gas is featured as part of the energy transition. In doing so, you will partner with GE’s Energy Financial Services (EFS) and Business Development teams to identify early engagement opportunities to position GE’s technology in the early development activities so our customers are able to align themselves with their country’s latest decarbonisation policy.

You have your finger on the pulse. You are up-to-date on the latest industry trend and are able to draw upon your knowledge of market dynamic within an assigned sales region, to aid in the formulation of a clear go-to-market strategy as well as lead the deal teams through formulation and execution of proposal strategies that capitalize on GE's competitive strengths to serve the customer's needs, resulting in definitive sales agreement. To achieve this growth, you would collaborate with the Marketing and Product Teams to develop new products, solutions and services as well as support and manage the sales proposal process from opportunity identification through to contract signing in tandem with the country sales teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

To be successful in this role, you are able to demonstrate a high level of commercial judgment to achieve outcomes required. This includes but not limited to

  • Awareness and understanding of the decarbonization trend and position GE’s solution in the trend. This includes analysis on the feasibility of the development, the various policies, incentives to encourage decarbonization activities within the country.
  • Deal structuring, pricing and all other proposal development activities, being the interface with projects, global operation, risk management, and other functional groups as required
  • Identifying new opportunities and creating sales assessment for assigned sales region.
  • Maintain knowledge of market trends, customer requirements, competitor actions and customer base.
  • Take the lead and participate in Lean projects to improve the sales proposal process and faster proposal turnaround.
  • Customer evaluation to define customer value. Develop customer strategies that support account growth. This includes supporting customer meetings, co-creation sessions, customer financial and segment exploration, and direct support of sales, commercial and product line leaders.
  • Requires specialized knowledge across product lines, markets, sales processes, or customer groups. Requires strong commercial awareness, and is expected to influence the development of strategy for their broad sales territory, including control of resources.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business encounters and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems within projects, product lines, markets, sales processes, campaigns or customers. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders or customers. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering or equivalent discipline from a local or internationally recognised institution
  • Must possess at least 10 years experience in Sales/Marketing/Business Development within the power generation or decarbonisation field.
  • Ability to demonstrate a successful track record in developing power plants and are well versed in the carbon trading system and how it can help on the feasibility of the development will be an added advantage
  • Key to the success of this role is ability to articulate energy, transmission & distribution, oil & gas, and industrial markets trends
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills are essential as you will need to communicate difficult concepts, guide others to consider and influence others to consider a different perspective.
  • Strong account & customer relationship management mindset
  • Ability to travel 40% of the time.
