Senior Engineer - Electrical

Candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end scope of electrical power system design, construction, and operation for renewable energy generation plants and high-voltage power supply systems up to 500kV.
The candidate will act as the primary coordinator with consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless project execution. Responsibilities include preparing technical reports, proposals, and specifications for renewable energy projects, as well as reviewing and resolving documentation discrepancies. The role requires a strong understanding of interconnection design, power system design and analysis, and regulatory compliance for efficient and reliable power infrastructure delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Specify and design electrical components including generators, transformers, switchgear, AC/DC distribution panels, UPS systems, battery storage, cabling, earthing, and lightning protection systems.
- Develop interconnection designs and system architectures for integrating renewable energy into the grid from 11kV to 132kV.
- Experience in handling high voltage supply to HV Consumers, such as 132kV and 275kV, will be an added advantage.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Malaysian and international standards, such as Malaysia Grid Codes, IEEE, IEC, NEC, API, IP, and NEMA.
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes for Malaysia, Philippines and Australia / New Zealand will be added advantage
- Evaluate and able to access load flow studies and provide engineering report, short circuit analysis, reactive power compensation, harmonic analysis, and transient stability studies
- Evaluate and able to provide engineering report by accessing generator connection studies for transmission and distribution grid integration.
- Engage with utility providers and regulatory authorities to secure grid connection approvals and furnish the necessary detail required for submission
- Evaluate and select appropriate power system equipment and technologies to optimise performance and efficiency and comply with project and code requirements.
- Manage project deliverables, ensuring timely completion of electrical designs, reports, and technical documentation.
- Prepare tender documents, technical specifications, and procurement documentation for electrical equipment.
- Review vendor proposals and ensure compliance with project requirements and best industry practices.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, preferably in the renewable energy and power transmission sectors.
- Experience in interconnection design and power delivery for projects ranging from 11kV to 132kV.
- Familiarity with Malaysian Grid Code, IEEE, IEC, NEC, and other relevant standards.
- Proficiency in power system analysis software such as PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD, and DIGSILENT PowerFactory.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, PVSyst, and other design tools is an advantage.
- Programming skills (Python, Rust) for automation and data analysis are preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
