Senior OS Linux Administrator

The Senior OS Linux Administrator, as part of the Infrastructure Shared Services, holds a vital role in managing, supporting, maintaining, and implementing Linux platforms across business units and project teams. Operating primarily within the Asia Pacific region, the role is responsible for ensuring the stability and life cycle management of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) platforms. The position involves a combination of day-to-day operational support and project-based work, including new infrastructure development and deployment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain RHEL Platforms:
• Oversee the operational conditions of both current and new RHEL platforms, ensuring they meet support process requirements.
• Build and Administer RHEL Platforms:
• Design, deploy, and manage RHEL platforms to ensure optimal performance and service.
• Operational Support:
• Provide senior-level troubleshooting for incidents and problems, along with reporting and communication responsibilities.
• Use automation to streamline processes and ensure efficient service delivery.
• Assist in New Implementations:
• Support new infrastructure component implementations, including physical and virtual servers and middleware components like backup, scheduling, and monitoring.
• Proactive Management:
• Ensure the stability, response time, and consistency of the Linux operating systems while actively managing their lifecycle.
• Automation:
• Propose and implement automation solutions to improve the operational efficiency of Linux environments.
  
  

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Cloud and Storage Support:
• Provide support for Cloud Azure and storage solutions.
• Solution Search and Qualification:
• Participate in the search for and qualification of new solutions.
• Documentation:
• Ensure proper documentation, including procedures for level 2 support.
  
  

Required Technical Skills:

• Primary Skills:
• RHCSA Certification: Minimum required qualification.
• Linux Administration: Installation, administration, troubleshooting, and performance analysis for RHEL platforms.
• Automation and Scripting: Proficiency in automating OS installation and updates, managing services, configuring networks, managing RPM packages, and performance tuning.
• Disk Volume Management: Expertise in SAN environments using dm-multipath and LVM.
• System Security: Knowledge of user management, security, PAM, SELinux, and advanced shell scripting (bash, awk, sed, Perl).
• System Services Management: Expertise in managing services like printing, FTP, NFS, syslog, SNMP, etc.
• Secondary Skills:
• Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with Azure (preferred) and AWS.
• Other Linux Distributions: Familiarity with Ubuntu and CentOS systems.
• Storage Management: Experience with various storage technologies.
• VMware: Experience with VMware environments.
