Software Engineer (React & Node) (Part-Time) (Remote)

Salary Range: RM 100-120/hour

Position overview

We’re looking for a talented and versatile Part-Time Software Engineer who’s excited to roll up their sleeves and help us build something great. You’ll be working closely with the founding team (who are friendly and experienced professionals) to ship features, optimize performance, and iterate quickly based on user feedback. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to building a product and company from scratch, gaining valuable "zero to one" experience.

This is a contract role and is open to Malaysians only.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain features that drive our product forward.
• Collaborate with the founding team to rapidly prototype and test new ideas.
• Write clean, efficient code, and ensure the application is scalable and maintainable.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues as they arise in a fast-paced environment.
• Wear multiple hats: from frontend to backend development, you'll tackle whatever's needed.
• Work directly with users to gather feedback and improve the product.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in software development (2+ years preferred).
• Strong proficiency in data structures and algorithms.
• Proficiency in the following languages and technologies: TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to manage your time effectively across different commitments.

Tech stack

At this stage, we’re still building the plane while flying it. Here's a snapshot of what we're currently using, though flexibility is key as we refine our stack:

• Frontend: React, Relay
• Backend: Node.js, GraphQL, Express, Temporal
• Database: PostgreSQL, Redis
• Cloud platform: Fly.io, Supabase

Expect to be hands-on across the stack as we iterate fast and scale rapidly.

Work schedule

• 15-20 hours per week, flexible around your schedule (subject to contract agreement).
• Fully remote, with occasional check-ins. You will be required to physically attend catch up sessions with the founders occasionally.
