Staff Engineer Product Engineering

The Semiconductor Product Engineer will be responsible for driving the development and validation of semiconductor products, with a focus on electrical characteristics, testing, and process improvements. This role will serve as a key contributor within the Product Development team, managing electrical characterization, supporting production ramp-up, and leading continuous improvement initiatives for product performance and quality. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in semiconductor product engineering, a strong technical background in electrical/electronics engineering, and a passion for innovation and product performance optimization.

Job Description

In your new role you will:

• Serve as the owner of assigned semiconductor products, working closely with the Product Development team to ensure successful development and deployment.
• Act as a feedback loop to the development team, providing critical insights based on testing, validation, and characterization results.
• Develop electrical characteristics validation concepts and execute electrical characterization of products to ensure they meet performance standards.
• Manage and maintain the characterization lab, ensuring equipment functionality, calibration, and overall lab efficiency.
• Support the ramp-up process for new products, ensuring a smooth transition from development to manufacturing.
• Lead efforts in identifying and addressing performance issues, including yield, Cp/Cpk, quality, cost, and delivery.
• Work cross-functionally to address production-related topics (e.g., low yield, Field Action Reports (FAR)) and drive solutions to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
• Collaborate with other teams to reduce cost and improve key ratios (e.g., TIR, TTR), improving overall product performance.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives on product development processes, ensuring innovative approaches to testing, validation, and product performance enhancement.
• Take ownership of setting up and maintaining lab test benches, including automating test procedures and implementing automated data analysis techniques.
• Identify new opportunities to innovate in lab bench automation, test methodologies, and data analysis to optimize time and resource utilization.
• Serve as a liaison between cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to address product development challenges and resolve technical issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation of product validation results, test data, and characterization procedures.
  
  

Your Profile

You are best equipped for this task if you have:

• Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field, or Semiconductor Technology.
• More than 5 years of experience in Semiconductor Product Engineering and/or Device Testing.
• Proven experience in electrical characterization, validation testing, and working with semiconductor products.
• In-depth knowledge of yield improvement techniques, quality control, and cost management in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Familiarity with lab bench automation and data analysis methods.
• Strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of semiconductor product performance metrics (e.g., yield, Cp/Cpk, TTR).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities with a hands-on approach to product testing and development.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency with testing equipment, lab management, and automated testing systems.
• Familiarity with industry best practices in semiconductor manufacturing and testing.
• Experience with semiconductor product development lifecycle, from design through to production ramp-up.
• Familiarity with statistical analysis tools and software used for yield and quality improvement.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.
