Technical Architect - E-Commerce

As a Technical Architect, you will take on a leadership role in designing and delivering the next-generation features of our e-commerce platform, focusing on the core e-commerce features: the cart, checkout, and order processes. This role is part of the Strategic Marketing team that thrives on collaboration, innovation, and delivering scalable, high-quality solutions.

What You'll Do

As a Technical Architect, you will:

• Design and implement secure, scalable, and high-performing architectures for the e-commerce platform - https://www.hilti.com/
• Lead the development and evolution of the platform to support new use-cases, evolution of the underlying systems, and traffic growth.
• Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders, and development teams to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain architectural standards, including best practices for data modeling, APIs, and system integration.
• Evaluate and recommend technologies, identifying the most suitable frameworks (e.g., Spring, Node.js, Python, or others) to balance performance, scalability, and business needs.
• Act as a technical expert in e-commerce solutions, ensuring the platform meets business and performance requirements.
• Stay hands-on with the codebase when needed, providing guidance to development teams, managing technical debt, and ensuring high-quality standards.
• Drive compliance with IT security, risk assessments, and regulatory requirements for platform operations.
  
  
  

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 7 years in software development, with a prior experience as an architect / tech lead.
• Prior experience working on an e-commerce website.
• Technical Expertise:
• Strong understanding of e-commerce platforms and core use-cases: checkout, orders, cart, payment. For this role we focus on the Purchase part of the user journey.
• Proficiency with cloud-based solutions, ideally using AWS services for hosting and scalability.
• Code and development knowledge, especially Java, is a must-have.
• Expertise in architecting scalable systems using modern frameworks and tools—experience with platforms such as Spring, Node.js, or Python-based frameworks is a plus, but flexibility to evaluate and recommend the right technology is key.
• Hands-on experience in API design and development, including API gateways, microservices, and data synchronization workflows.
• Mindset: Agile, solution-oriented, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
