What we need:
Reporting to the Country Lead for Health and Safety. The Campus Health and Safety Manager will serve as the focal point for all campus Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) matters across both data center development and operations. This role is responsible for strengthening Health and Safety culture, driving improved HSE performance across construction and operations, and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve HSE objectives
This role is based onsite at Digital Edge’s data center campus in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Key responsibilities:
- Serve as the key HSE interface for hyperscale customers and external stakeholders, facilitating safety reviews, audits, and coordination meetings, and ensuring responsive, transparent communication on all HSE matters.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with local, state, and national HSE and site environmental regulations, as well as relevant industry standards across campus.
- Conduct campus-specific HSE risk assessments across construction and operational phases.
- Ensure effective implementation of HSE training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors, verifying required competencies.
- Ensure that all contractors and vendors involved in data-center construction and operations adhere to the company’s HSE policies and safety protocols.
- Foster a positive HSE culture by promoting accountability, ownership, and continuous learning.
- Lead investigations into HSE incidents, identify root causes, and implement improvement actions while ensuring timely reporting to relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and performance reviews across construction and operational phases to verify compliance, identify improvement opportunities, and support continuous improvement reporting.
- Develop, review, and implement campus emergency response plans, ensuring readiness for fires and other emergencies.
- Conduct periodic performance appraisals of direct reports.
- Serve as the campus focal point for certification and external audit programs, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14064, while supporting other programs such as LEED.
- Actively champion and implement the organization’s policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate:
- Diploma / Bachelor's in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety from an accredited college/university or NEBOSH equivalent qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of HSE work experience, with at least 3 years in mission-critical projects or facilities.
- Experience in operational environments involving live or energized systems is preferred.
- Physically able to conduct regular building inspections, including stairs and equipment access.
- Fluent in English and proficiency in local language (Bahasa) is preferred.
