Job Description

Commercial Operations Lead – Surgical Vision Malaysia

Reporting to the SEA Commercial Operations Lead with dotted-line partnership to the Country Manager, the Malaysia Commercial Operations Lead will serve as the key operational business partner to the local commercial organisation, driving operational excellence, commercial analytics, inventory governance, distributor operational alignment, and end-to-end execution excellence across the Malaysia market.

The role is responsible for strengthening operational rigor, improving insight to business performance, and enabling data-driven decision making across forecasting, inventory management, revenue operations, and distributor management processes.

Commercial Operations & Revenue Management

  • Partner closely with local commercial leadership to drive accurate demand planning, forecasting discipline, and revenue execution across the Malaysia market.
  • Consolidate and validate monthly demand planning at SKU level by aligning forecast assumptions with actual market consumption, inventory availability, and commercial priorities.
  • Oversee distributor purchase order planning and order validation processes to ensure healthy inventory coverage while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory risks.
  • Drive operational governance across end-to-end order management, shipment coordination, and customer master data management within SAP systems.
  • Proactively identify operational risks, fulfillment gaps, and supply constraints, escalating issues with recommended mitigation plans to local and regional leadership teams.

Inventory & Consignment Management

  • Lead inventory performance monitoring across distributor warehouses and consignment locations to optimize inventory health, availability, and inventory turns.
  • Champion inventory governance through regular analysis of Month-on-Hand (MOH), aging inventory, slow-moving inventory, and consumption trends.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to commercial leadership based on inventory insights, market demand trends, and commercial priorities.
  • Ensure consignment inventory and sample management processes are executed in accordance with SOP, quality, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen inventory visibility, operational controls, and distributor inventory management discipline.

Commercial Analytics & Business Insights

  • Support business planning cycles (BP, JU, NU, LRFP) through forecasting analysis, scenario planning, and market performance assessments.
  • Deliver monthly commercial performance analysis covering TMS, IMS, forecast accuracy, pricing performance, inventory trends, and business risks/opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reporting tools, and operational KPI tracking to improve leadership visibility and support data-driven decision making.
  • Continuously evaluate business trends, operational performance, and market dynamics to identify improvement opportunities and operational risks.
  • Partner with regional and local stakeholders to improve reporting standardization, data quality, and operational transparency.

Distributor Operations & Governance

  • Act as the key operational interface with distributors on operational performance, inventory management, KPI tracking, pricing governance, and process compliance.
  • Monitor distributor operational KPIs and drive alignment on operational expectations, escalation management, and continuous process improvement.
  • Ensure distributor operational practices remain aligned with regional operational standards, compliance requirements, and commercial objectives.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Operational Excellence

  • Support monthly Sales & Operations reviews with local and regional leadership teams by providing operational insights and business performance updates.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Regulatory Affairs, Customer Care, Supply Chain, Procurement, Tax, and Legal teams to support operational execution and issue resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve ways of working, automate processes, and strengthen operational efficiency through digital tools and standardized processes.
  • Support operational deployment of PowerApps and workflow solutions for pricing approvals, consignment setup, no-charge goods, emergency requests, and operational governance processes.
  • Participate in strategic and ad hoc projects including new product introductions, business integrations, process transformation initiatives, and regional operational projects.

Key Stakeholders

  • Local commercial team and cross-functional stakeholders in Malaysia market.
  • SEA leadership team and regional functional teams including Finance, Procurement, Tax, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, and Customer Care.
  • External distributors and operational partners supporting the Malaysia market.

Preferred Experience & Capabilities

  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen with experience in commercial operations, sales operations, supply chain, or business analytics.
  • Experience working within distributor-based commercial models and cross-functional regional organisations.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Power BI, Excel, and reporting/dashboard tools preferred.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across commercial and functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, operational governance, and process improvement mindset.
  • Experience within Medical Device, Healthcare, Life Sciences, or regulated industries preferred.
