    Sports Direct Malaysia is currently looking for Human Resources Manager, Operations to join our growing team. 

    Sports Direct Malaysia currently operates a total of 41 retail stores domestically and manages a proprietary SportsDirect.com e-commerce site for domestic and regional fulfillment. Sports Direct Malaysia offers over 70 of the leading authentic global sports brands, offering the widest variety of choice and value. The company employs over 1000 staff with a view to expanding rapidly across Asia in the coming years.

    We have developed a new generation of stores as part of our multi channel elevation strategy, to enhance the customer experience at every step of the journey. Our focus is on presenting an unrivalled range of quality products at excellent value in a modern spacious environment. The stores are uniquely zoned by key sports categories which include; SD Football, SD Running, SD Training (fitness, cross training, gym equipment, weights, boxing, yoga), SD Rackets (badminton, tennis, squash), SD Swimming (pool, beach, water sports), SD Sports (basketball, rugby, extreme games, cycling, skates & indoor games), SD Lifestyle (Men, Women & Kids) & SD Outdoor (Hiking, trekking, camping & fishing).

    Job Description

    Talent Acquisition 

    • Support management in workforce planning and organisational changes, ensuring proper communication and compliance with applicable requirements.
    • Oversee and support end-to-end recruitment activities, including manpower planning, candidate sourcing, selection, and hiring processes.
    • Manage onboarding processes to ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and within stipulated timelines.
    • Continuously review and enhance recruitment and onboarding practices to align with organisational standards and best HR practices.
    • Support the execution of probation and confirmation review processes in accordance with company guidelines.
    • Monitor labour market trends and recommend suitable sourcing channels to meet evolving hiring needs.
    • Coordinate and participate in employer branding initiatives and recruitment-related events.

     

    HR Data & Administration

    • Review and update employment contracts, offer letters, and related HR documentation to ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
    • Assist in maintaining and monitoring records relating to statutory and labour law compliance.
    • Oversee payroll-related data inputs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for new hires, terminations, and employee data changes in the HRIS.
    • Ensure accurate and up-to-date payroll inputs, including employee details and attendance records.
    • Perform periodic reconciliations to ensure consistency and accuracy across payroll systems and Group HR databases.
    • Ensure adherence to data confidentiality standards and compliance with data protection regulations

     

    Industrial Relations

    • Provide guidance on employment-related matters and resolve issues in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
    • Lead investigations and disciplinary processes independently, including recommending outcomes in line with company policies and legal considerations.
    • Support the preparation of documentation and coordination for domestic inquiries or disciplinary hearings, where required.
    • Liaise with external parties, including labour authorities, legal advisors, or relevant government bodies, on employment-related matters as necessary.
    • Assist in monitoring and mitigating employee relations risks by identifying potential issues early and recommending appropriate actions.
    • Provide advisory support to line managers on handling employee misconduct, performance issues, and workplace conflicts in a consistent and compliant manner.

    Employee Relations

    • Monitor employee feedback, engagement outcomes, and workplace trends, and provide recommendations to management for improvement.
    • Promote a positive employee value proposition by supporting initiatives that enhance employee experience and workplace culture.
    • Support audits, due diligence, or internal reviews relating to HR practices, policies, and employee management processes.

     

    HR Team Development

    • Responsible for development of HR team members through coaching, on-the-job guidance, and knowledge sharing to enhance functional competencies.
    • Encourage a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service orientation within the HR team.
    • Support succession planning and talent development within the HR function to ensure continuity and capability growth.

     

    Annual performance Review

    • Coordinate and administer the annual performance review cycle, ensuring compliance with timelines, guidelines, and approval processes.
    • Maintain and update performance review templates, forms, and evaluation frameworks.
    • Consolidate performance ratings and analyse trends to support management decision-making.

     

    Others

    • Ensure alignment between HR practices and overall business objectives to support organisational effectiveness.
    • Assist in developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, and frameworks to strengthen employer governance and consistency.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives within HR processes, including system enhancements and process optimisation.
    • Prepare HR-related reports and provide insights to support management decision-making.
    • Oversee end-to-end management of foreign workers, including recruitment, coordination, onboarding, and repatriation processes. Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements (e.g., immigration, labour laws, levy payments, and permit renewals).

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Human Resources Operations.
    • Strong understanding of local labour laws and HR compliance requirements.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills to engage stakeholders of all levels.
    • Proficient in both written and spoken English and Bahasa Melayu.
    • Ability to work according to deadlines, manage various demands, demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail.
    • A proactive and effective team player, self-starter and self-motivated for leading and executing tasks.
    • Able to handle confidential information with discretion.
