Internship at R&D & QC Team (Food Flavouring)

Scentium, the flavour division of the Iberchem Group, is a global food flavour manufacturer with a commercial presence in over 100 countries and production centers in Europe, LATAM, North Africa, and Asia. Scentium (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is a food and beverage flavouring manufacturing company based in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, Malaysia.

Role Description

This is an internship program, on-site role for a Research and Development (R&D) and Quality Control (QC) Intern located in Kota Kemuning. The intern will be responsible for:

Quality

• Assist in the sampling, testing, and analysis of raw materials and finished products.
• Perform routine QC tests such as moisture content, sensory evaluation, density measurements etc, ensure products meet quality benchmarks and report to superior.
• Documenting accurate records of data and quality testing results.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards, regulatory requirements and company quality policies.
• Contribute to internal audits and inspections to verify adherence to quality systems and procedures.
• Assist in the investigation and resolution of customer complaints and non-conformances.
• Suggest and help implement enhancements to QC practices based on latest industry insights.
  
  

Regulatory

• Assist in preparing documentation for product registration.
• Support the application and renewal process for Halal and Kosher certifications, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Help maintain and update regulatory databases.
• Assist in preparation of reports and presentations on regulatory status and compliance activities.
  
  

R&D Compounding Lab

• Sample compounding (liquid, powder & emulsion).
• Ensure materials' stock level in lab.
• Involve sensory evaluation preparation for both matching trials/ sample's quality.
• Assist flavourists/ flavourist trainees to compound the trials when compounding skill is well trained.
• To maintain lab cleanliness.
  
  

R&D Application Lab

• Assist food scientists to carry out application testing.
• Involve sensory evaluation preparation for the lab and sales team.
• To maintain lab cleanliness.
  
  

Qualifications

• Skills in Research and Development (R&D) or QC and Laboratory Skills
• Strong Analytical Skills and Research capabilities
• Excellent Communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Degree in Food Science or a related field is preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• A keen interest in the flavour industry and innovative R&D practices
