Job Summary

Material Handlers play a critical role in the smooth functioning of logistics operations by ensuring the accurate and timely movement of goods throughout the warehouse or operation centre. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to safety contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain.

Job Responsibilities

  • Receiving and Unloading - Receiving incoming goods from suppliers and transportation carriers.
  • Inventory Management - Maintaining accurate inventory records. Storing received items in designated warehouse locations, labelling and re-packing deemed necessary, recording inventory movements in the inventory management system, and conducting regular cycle counts or physical inventories to reconcile discrepancies.
  • Order Picking and Packing - Picking items from warehouse shelves according to pick lists or work orders. Ensure that the correct quantities and types of products are picked, properly packaged, and prepared for production.
  • Loading and Shipping - Preparing outgoing shipments for delivery to customers or other locations. This includes shipping documents preparation, packing items into designated shipping containers, labelling packages with shipping information and tracking numbers, liaise with freight forwarders on shipment booking and loading containers onto trucks or other transportation vehicles for dispatch.
  • Communication and Collaboration - Work closely with other warehouse staff, including supervisors, Material Planner, Receiving Inspectors and Custom Specialist, to coordinate activities and prioritize tasks. Communicate effectively to ensure that orders are processed accurately and efficiently, and that any issues or concerns are addressed promptly.
  • Safety and Compliance - Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, follow proper lifting techniques, and report any safety hazards or incidents to supervisors. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies related to the handling, storage, and transportation of goods.
  • Continuous Improvement - Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing warehouse operations and enhancing productivity. Provide feedback and suggestions for improving workflow efficiency, reducing errors, and minimizing waste in the material handling process.
  • Verifying quantities against packing lists or purchase orders, and inspecting goods for shipping damage or discrepancies.
  • Proper labelling and re-packing of goods for designated storage location in Warehouse.
  • Maintain maximum inventory and data accuracy level in all the relevant process.
  • Proper packaging of outbound shipment according to customer requirements.
  • Ensure the customers and authorities requirements are complied.
  • Material Handlers are trained to operate various types of material handling equipment safely and efficiently. This may include forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, and scissors jack. Ensure that equipment is used in accordance with safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents or damage to goods.
  • Escalate any issues to the Lead as required.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the related processes.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent qualification is required.
  • Able to read and write in English.
  • Experience in logistics/warehouse field.
  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work alone and unsupervised and as part of a team.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge in SAP is added advantage.
  • Knowledge/experience in Dangerous Goods handling.
  • Experience in a similar role within the aviation industry, preferably in a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility or aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Valid forklift license.
