MISSION

The Packaging Designer Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, validating and industrializing PET packaging solutions that meet customer expectations, machine capabilities, manufacturing constraints, sustainability objectives, and Serac quality standards. The role acts as the technical reference for packaging development, working closely with Product Management, Sales, Project Management, R&D, Engineering, Production and customers throughout the entire project lifecycle.

MAIN TASKS

  • Design and develop PET bottle and packaging concepts based on customer requirements.
  • Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
  • Ensure packaging designs comply with technical, manufacturing, and quality standards.
  • Review customer specifications and recommend suitable design solutions.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and design validation.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Sales, Production, and Project teams throughout the design process.
  • Modify and improve existing packaging designs based on customer feedback or production requirements.
  • Prepare design documentation, technical drawings, and related reports.
  • Support customer discussions on packaging design feasibility and improvements.
  • Maintain and update packaging design databases and technical documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and product development projects.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by Management from time to time.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

  • Standard office hardware and software.
  • Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA or equivalent).
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems is an advantage.

Competences & Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Packaging Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in PET packaging design, blow moulding, beverage packaging or OEM machinery.
  • Strong understanding of PET bottle manufacturing processes, stretch blow moulding and packaging engineering principles.
  • Experience with bottle lightweighting, finite element analysis (FEA) or packaging simulations is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of packaging regulations and sustainability requirements.
  • Strong CAD modelling and engineering drawing skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to communicate effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Self-motivated, innovative and able to manage multiple projects independently.
