Production Engineer

Objective of the Position

• Responsible for ensuring day-to-day plant operations run smoothly, with a strong focus on daily production safety, process reliability, quality, and regulatory compliance, while optimizing asset utilization and production efficiency.
• Assist the Production Manager in ensuring the operation of the production section is carried out on time according to EHS, quality and other agreed requirements.
• Key in driving continuous improvement, cross-shift standardization, and effective problem-solving to sustain high-performance operations.
  
  
  

Main Areas Of Responsibilities And Key Activies


EHS

• Strictly comply with and implement the company's EHS policies and ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification requirements.
• Guide and ensure shift operations to strictly follow SOPs regarding safety, environment, and occupational health in their operations.
• Take appropriate measures for any safety, environmental, or occupational health incidents and report to the Production Manager as per procedures.
• Using personal protective equipment (PPE) according to the Safe Work Guidelines or PPE Matrix
• Carry out emergency actions as required by procedures during emergency response events.
  
  
  

Operations

• Ensure all environmental, health and safety rules and guidelines are being adhered to and maintained by the production personnel.
• Providing technical and operational leadership to support day-to-day plant operations, ensuring safe execution of production plans in full compliance with BASF Process Safety standards, and applicable environmental regulation.
• Acting as a technical authority and trusted advisor to Operations, leading complex troubleshooting efforts and guiding Daily Operations teams toward effective, sustainable solutions for process, production, quality, and EHS challenges.
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve asset efficiency, optimize equipment cycle times, reduce waste, and sustain nameplate production capacity.
• Influencing cross shift standardization, cost optimization, and asset performance by working collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, and Asset Effectiveness teams to align priorities and maximize plant utilization.
• Leading cross functional coordination and technical input for inspections, outages, capital projects, and investigations (RCA, NCM), partnering with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Regulatory teams to prevent repeat incidents and improve first pass quality.
• Lead production team in trial production of new products and internal test products (PTO).
• To check and revise if necessary; HIRA, Procedures, Working Instructions, and Work Checklists.
• Manage the inventory of materials and tools, including staging materials for production and packaging by conducting periodic stock counts.
• Support on evaluating training needs for the operation, to ensure they are provided the adequate training for operation and continuous improvement.
• Responsible as 5S leader coordinator for Production Department.
• Review process condition and downtime report, GAP reporting and propose for improvement.
• Represent the Production Manager on production matter during the Production Manager absence.
• Ensure effectiveness of the implementation audit for Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and IATF 16949 Quality Management System for the automotive industry.
• Ensure good housekeeping and proper handovers among shift team members.
• Other production-related tasks assigned by superiors.
  
  
  

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Polymers Science or Chemical Engineering.
• At least 5 - 8 years’ of experience in delivering technical expertise in a plastics compounding manufacturing plant.
• Posses demonstrated track record of leading through influence, providing expert technical guidance, and partnering with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and EHS teams to achieve safe and reliable plant performance.
• Proficient in production management software (e.g., ERP systems, MES).
• Hold strong production and operations background with the ability to independently support troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis, and investigations across Production, EHS and Quality.
• Have proven continuous improvement capability, including practical application of Lean Six Sigma methodologies to drive efficiency, waste reduction, asset utilization, and sustained nameplate performance.
• Highly effective collaborator with strong attention to detail and communication skills, able to coordinate complex activities and influence priorities across cross functional teams without formal supervisory authority.
• Knowledgeable on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, TS 16949 and ISO 45001 requirements.
