We're Hiring: Senior Accountant - based in Skudai Johor

We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Senior Accountant to independently manage the full set of accounts for a food processing startup based in Skudai, Johor, Malaysia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices, along with a proven track record of handling financial transactions and reporting.

About the role:

We are seeking an analytical Accountant to oversee our financial operations. In this role, you will ensure financial accuracy, drive strategic cost management, maintain regulatory compliance, and deliver actionable insights to executive leadership to fuel our ongoing expansion.


Key responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Manage full-set accounts (GL, AP/AR, fixed assets). Prepare and present accurate monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Cost & Inventory Accounting: Determine Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), value inventory (raw materials, WIP, finished goods), and analyze production variances to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Cash Flow & Budgeting: Monitor cash flow projections, assist with annual budgeting, and oversee timely invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
  • Tax & Compliance: Oversee monthly payroll processing (EPF, SOCSO, EIS). Manage tax filings (including SST and corporate tax) and ensure strict compliance with MFRS/MPERS.
  • Audit & Controls: Maintain robust internal controls and serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, tax agents, and company secretaries.
  • Process Documentation: Maintain clear, written documentation (SOPs) for all routine accounting tasks and provide timely Situation Reports (Sit-reps) for ad-hoc assignments and financial issues.
  • Strategic Analysis: Investigate financial discrepancies and deliver weekly and monthly financial performance dashboards to management.


Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy/Finance.
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Proficient in accounting software (such as AutoCount, Xero, etc.).
  • Skills: Strong grasp of MFRS/MPERS and local tax regulations, advanced MS Excel proficiency, and sharp analytical capabilities.
  • Attributes: Highly organized, detail-oriented, capable of independent work, and exercises high integrity with confidential data.
