Based in Petaling Jaya, we are seeking for a Brand Manager to optimize long-term returns to growers and Zespri by developing and implementing marketing plans and campaigns to drive the sales of Zespri Kiwifruit in Malaysia.
This is a 6 month fixed term opportunity from Feb 2025 to July 2025.
In the context of a highly seasonal business, the Brand Manager will work closely with the Senior Marketing Manager, APAC South, with the long-term objective of growing the kiwifruit category and maintaining differentiation of the Zespri Brand to command a price premium. This includes:
- Working with the Senior Marketing Manager, APAC South, to develop the marketing plan for Malaysia.
- Championing the marketing strategies for Malaysia, within the framework of Zespri’s global and regional sales and marketing objectives.
- Implementing planned marketing activities with excellence.
- Evaluating and responding to consumer research insights, market conditions and competitor activities.
- Assisting with marketing implementation for other markets, as required.
Core Responsibilities
1. Develop and Implement Annual Marketing Plan for Malaysia
Conceptualize and articulate a marketing plan that will grow long term consumer demand and meet Zespri’s business objectives.
Manage the efficient and effective delivery of all consumer and trade /channel marketing activity within the agreed budget, operating with flexibility and recognition that supply volumes can fluctuate with fruit crop variability.
Manage all aspects of marketing activities including brand promotion and media support, consumer promotions, channel management support (including liaising with direct retail customers on targeted marketing programs) and point of sale (including packaging and instore/on shelf display materials), public relations, plus other activities as agreed.
Work with agencies and third-party suppliers to deliver the marketing plan in a timely and cost-effective basis.
Analyze, review and report back regularly on marketing activities and results to key internal and external stakeholders.
2. Contribute to the Development of Zespri’s Marketing Strategy
Work closely with the Senior Marketing Manager, APAC South, to manage the implementation of global and regional marketing objectives within the above marketing plan for Malaysia.
Lead / project – manage regional / cross-market initiatives, such as winning at the point of purchase with creative point-of-sale materials, innovative packaging, social media, website updates etc.
Communicate local issues and opportunities to other business stakeholders to ensure the local market perspectives can be considered in regional and global strategy development.
Key Result Areas
Deliver the strongest possible financial results (Net 2 Sales – total and per tray, Volume tray equivalents, Market returns) and Brand Performance (Awareness, Brand Power, Brand Premium) within the Market Development Framework strategy and maximize growth opportunities across Malaysia.
Winning at the Point of Purchase through delivering best-in-class initiatives.
Monitor the results of the marketing activity, recommending changes and implementing improvements to strengthen the Zespri Brand preference with consumers, to support the premium price position and increase consumer brand engagement and loyalty.

We are looking for a strong team player who has strong working experience in drawing up and executing marketing plans with our retailer partners. Being highly adaptable with strong problem solving skills will be the key to success and you will also possess:
- At least 5 years’ experience in FMCG, Consumer Products, Trade Marketing or Retail
- Experience in brand marketing or product management, across a broad set of marketing activities, ideally within the Malaysian market
- A high level of fluency in English essential (both written and oral). Fluency in Bahasa also desirable.
- Team player, trustworthy & reliable – needs to ensure activities are compliant with Zespri standards/guidelines
- High levels customer service, excellent time management skills & high attention to detail
- Computer skills including PowerPoint, Excel, Word. Experience with SAP would be an advantage
- Experience & knowledge about agriculture, fruit or other food businesses is an advantage
- Experience as motivator/lead person on projects would be an advantage.
