CD Project Chemist

As a Project Chemist, you will work on projects, organise and conduct experimental work. Draw conclusions from the work and contribute to the development of new or improved product formulations. Under the direction from supervisor, provide technical support for new and existing. You will be reporting to the Technical Manager, based in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

Main Responsibilities

• Organize, accurately carry out and draw conclusions from lab experiments following discussion with supervisors.
• Ensure all experimental work is fully recorded in appropriate lab notebooks, databases and where necessary, project reports.
• Deliver PPG approved reports of projects.
• Work safely, following all lab procedures and contribute to the maintenance of high safety standards.
• Record experimental output in a condensed, tabulated or graphic form to concisely and effectively communicate results and trends. Deliver PPG approved reports of projects.
• Provide technical support (closely guided by supervisor) to other departments especially sales and production.
• Contribute ideas for lab work involving new product development, existing product improvement, formula cost reduction, processes and procedural improvement.
• Keeps lab appropriately supplied, keeps basic equipment functioning and certifiably calibrated.
• Understands and consistently practices EHS processes relevant to the job in the working environment.
  
  

Qualifications

• Graduate with Honours Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• 1-5 years’ work experience in a technical role at a relevant company within the chemical or coatings industry.
• Experience working on and executing projects.
• Basic knowledge of paint making, testing techniques & colour theory.
• Comprehends paint manufacturing and production processes.
• Understanding of main formulating rules and principles.
• Is familiar with major raw material suppliers and their technologies.
• Aware of PPG and competitive product ranges and customer application practices.
• Working knowledge of all laboratory and EHS procedures.
