Ichor Systems is hiring for an Electropolish Engineer to lead and optimize the electropolishing (EP) and passivation processes, ensuring high-quality surface finishing, consistent production performance, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. The role focuses on process control, bath chemistry management, and continuous improvement in productivity and yield.
Specific Job Duties
Ichor Systems is hiring for an Electropolish Engineer to lead and optimize the electropolishing (EP) and passivation processes, ensuring high-quality surface finishing, consistent production performance, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. The role focuses on process control, bath chemistry management, and continuous improvement in productivity and yield.
Specific Job Duties
- Develop, implement and optimize electropolishing, passivation, and anodization process parameters to meet product specifications and performance targets
- Troubleshoot and adjust process conditions to achieve required surface roughness and finish quality.
- Conduct trial runs and validates new parameters or material combinations.
- Support daily operation of EP line including setup, solution make-up, and equipment readiness.
- Work closely with technicians and operators to ensure smooth workflow and minimal downtime.
- Monitor equipment such as rectifiers, tanks, filtration, and polishing racks.
- Ensure products meet surface finish specifications and cleanliness standards.
- Maintain documentation (SOPs, control charts, process logs, corrective actions.
- Implement productivity improvements through process automation or chemical usage optimization.
- Lead root-cause analysis for process deviations, non-conformance, and yield loss.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives on chemical consumption and rework rate.
- Ensure all chemical handling follows EHS requirements and PPE usage.
- Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and chemical waste management programs.
- Train line personnel on safety procedures and emergency response.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Materials Engineering, or Industrial Chemistry
- 2–5 years in metal surface finishing, plating, or electropolishing environment preferred
- Experience with stainless steel EP process, rectifier operation, or passivation line setup.
- Strong understanding of electrochemical processes and chemical bath control
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of equipment such as rectifiers, temperature control units, and filtration systems.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with SPC or DOE knowledge.
- Strong communication and coordination across production, QA, and maintenance teams
