What you will do


Volvo Bus Asia Pacific
is one of the leading clusters within Volvo Bus Corporation (VBC) and has a proud history of profitability and growth. It is responsible for Bus vehicle and Service sales business, partnership with Volvo’s own and private importers, key customers and body build partners, and progress of the Volvo Buses total business within the region.


We are looking for an inspiring leader to join the team as General Manager, Volvo Bus Malaysia.


Based in Malaysia and reporting to the Director APAC Central, the General Manager, Volvo Bus Malaysia will lead the sales effort and growth of bus sales inline with our commercial strategy which has established commercial bus businesses in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia along with continual growth of market presence in emerging markets in the region:


  • Overall responsibility for Volvo bus business operations in Malaysia (East and West), to develop Volvo Bus business in line with Asia Pacific Buses expectations.
  • Ensure and develop Volvo Bus brand image and reputation in the marketplace, and maintain good customer satisfaction
  • Assume the role of project management and manage the tender projects (as and when they are awarded), while ensuring timely and quality delivery

Who are you?

The successful candidate is a senior leader with demonstrated commercial and team leading experience with the following qualities:


  • At least 10 years of progressive regional commercial and business development experience at a senior management level, preferably from the automotive industry
  • Outstanding commercial acumen with strong business and market orientation
  • Customer-focused, strategic and forward-thinking
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of complex bus business across Malaysia (East and West) including market movement, legal requirement and competition
  • Proven track record of cooperation with global body builders and partners.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to inspire, influence and challenge
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence, build strong relationships and manage a complex network of internal and external stakeholders. Ability to create and maintain a network in the Malaysia business environment will be an added advantage.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and lead successfully within different cultures.
  • Requires willingness to have flexible schedule and travel
