Pharmacy Assistant

Job Description:

1. Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications
2. Check for allergies and known allergies of patients and note for future notifications.
3. Assist in the preparation of extemporaneous pharmaceuticals ensuring that there is no overstock.
4. Accurately count and pour medications from stock containers ensuring no touch techniques at all times.
5. Repackage and label products and extemporaneous doses accurately with no mistakes. Double check with a clinical staff whenever possible.
6. Receive and input prescription orders into system accurately.
7. Liaise with healthcare providers to ensure accuracy of prescription information in terms of right patient, right drug, right dose, right route, and right time.
8. Release refill medications and over-the-counter products in accordance with existing standard procedures as per required by the government.
9. When dispensing medication, always check the 5 rights of medication administration.
10. Provide patients and customers with necessary information about their prescriptions, medications and product.
11. Provide patient education on medications given.
12. Patient data management and always ensure confidentiality.
13. Collect, organize and maintain patient information and profiles input details into prescription/patient/pharmacy data management system.
14. Monitor and maintain inventory of medicines and pharmaceutical supplies using min max rules.
15. Practice First In, First Out principle always to prevent expiry of medications.
16. Place orders for required inventory when it has reached min level.
17. Receive and record medications and pharmaceutical products timely.
18. Package and label medications and pharmaceutical products efficiently and accurately.
19. Maintain work area in an organized and hygienic manner at all times.
20. Keep pharmacy equipment and environment sanitized, clean and in good working order
21. Ensure products and shelves are kept neat and tidy
22. Answering all calls and enquiries in a professional manner.
23. Attending to emails, messages, calls efficiently and timely.
24. Maintain good relations with vendors.
25. To perform any additional duties as assigned by immediate superior.

Qualification:

1. Possess at least a Diploma in Pharmacy
2. Have computer skills
3. Able to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia, English fluently.
4. Minimum 2 years of work experience in hospital and/or retail pharmacy
5. Willing to work in JOHOR BAHRU
